I've been lurking for awhile and feel like I know some you already. I've decided it's time to jump in and get serious about losing weight. As much as I hated to, I weighed my self this morning. I knew that I weighed at least 300+, so I wasn't surprised to see it was actually 310. OH geez, I can't believe I'm seeing those numbers!
Anyway, I'm ready to get started eating sensibly. My goal for now is to work on

It looks like you've already off to a great start.. portion control & evening snacking.. that's 2 big steps to overcome.. and I bet you'll see some rewards once you work on them. Make sure to drink plenty of water too.. oh and have you ever considered journaling? It can help a lot

Glad you decided to de-lurk! Isn't it funny how long we can look past our weight and then one day it's the only thing we can see? Your Plan A approach sounds great. It's so easy to try to do too much all at once and then fizzle out because you're overwhelmed. I'm looking forward to sharing the weight loss road with you! Annie

Hi Fran!!
With working on your evening snacking try going for a walk when you get the munchies or even try a low fat yogurt or fruit!! I know it is hard to to but try to keep yourself busy and you will not have time to think about snacking!! Also try drinking more ice water!! A great way to fill yourself up and get in all 8 glasses of water a day!!
