Do you/Would you?

Okay, this is a question for all the mommies out there:

When you are giving the amount of weight you have lost, do you use your all time highest non-pregnancy weight, or just your highest weight ever? I guess for some it's probably not an issue because I know a lot of people who's all time highest weights were after having the baby anyway (my mom being one of them).

For me, my all time highest weight was the day I had my daughter and it's over 15 lbs higher (290.5) than my all time highest non pregnancy weight (275). So, do I tell people I've lost 75 lbs or do I tell them I've lost 60? Which would you do? I kind of like using the pregnancy weight because I like saying I've lost a higher number, but I want credit for all that I've lost, and I think that if people hear that I've lost 75 lbs from my pregnancy weight then they will think I didn't have to work at it like I have had to because a lot of people tend to gain and lose 50+ pounds during pregnancy. Am I just overthinking all of this? :)

Right now, I count from what my weight was when I went back to WW on 8/25 (286.6). I do usually mention that my highest weight was 315. I lost weight prior to starting WW the first time around just because my OB put me on a diabetic diet while I was pregnant with my dd and I stayed on it for a few months after she was born.

I guess I'm torn on this really. I'm proud of the weight I lost from 315 to when I started WW but I also feel funny about it because it was so long ago and I was stuck at 286 for so long.

I say do whatever makes you comfortable. You've lost weight and deserve credit for it.

Well, since I didn't give birth to my kids maybe my perspective is a little skewed, but I am honestly very skeptical of anyone who wants to know exact figures about my top weight, my current weight, my goal weight, my previous weights along the way. I guess as much as I am encouraged to see the numbers dip on the scale, other than posting here I just don't advertise my numbers. If someone notices my weight loss and is generally interested in how I'm doing it, I'll share that as well as how painfully slow it's coming off. If they seem to be data gathering for other purposes, then I keep it to myself. (For example at th bus stop with my kids there is one mom who is around a size 14 and all the others are size 6 or smaller, with two 0s who practically cry every time the wind blows. No kidding! LOL)

I think it's most important to do what you are most comfortable with. If someone doesn't like the way you are crunching the numbers then they'll just have to live with it. Annie

Not a mom, but I vote for overthinking! ;-)

If it were me, I'd probably say 60 pounds lost from your NON-pregnancy weight... that way you should get full credit for each and every one of those pounds. IF you want to give out numbers at all!!!

I use my 6-week check weight.. I was 265 on the day I had my baby and dropped 17 pounds in those 6 weeks and I figured it was baby & *other stuff* weight.

I don't actually give out my weights, I just give a number when people ask or give a compliment. Lately I've been getting a lot of "You look like you're really slimming down" and I'll say thanks and then if they ask, I'll tell them how much I've lost. I wouldn't dare give out my actual weight, because I don't think they need to know that. I have always said that when I get to my goal weight I will be more than happy to share my current weight and how much I've lost...I just realize that right now, if I told people I was over 200 lbs, they would be shocked and I don't really want to deal with it.

Yes, yes, I know, I overthink things A LOT (just as DF :)!) I think a lot of my problems come in that I started really trying to lose weight about 4 months before I got pregnant, lost 30 lbs, got pregnant, gained almost 50, then started really trying to lose again about 2 1/2 weeks after DD was born. I worked hard most of my pregnancy to not gain too much (most of that 50 lbs was water weight I gained in the last 2 months), so I guess I really shouldn't count it from there, but for right now it's really fun to tell my co-workers I've lost almost 80 lbs since the day I went in to have DD. Most of them remember how big I was there at the end and they are just amazed at how much I've lost :).

For my official records, I will be using the 275, because that's what I started at last year and if I hadn't had DD, I wouldn't have taken that big of a break in dieting like I did.
