Funny you should bring this up! It was just last night that I was complaining to a friend of mine about the candy that is everywhere. I swear, these stores start stocking halloween candy in Sept. for crying out loud! And the smells! Oh. My. Gosh. I swear I can sniff out a Snickers or a Reeses from a 100 paces. LOL Having the candy in the checkout lanes doesn't bother me, it's when the candy is literally piled halfway to the ceiling trying to call my name that irks me! ;)

I don't really know what to say to help you except to tell you that you're not alone in this thinking. Maybe we need some sort of challenge for this! I've got 3 kids running around on the 31st so you can only imagine the kind of candy around here. Thank God we don't hand out candy because both dh & I go out with the kids. I shudder to think what sort of damage I could do if I had bags hanging out here at home.

As far as your party, maybe eat before hand and make allowances for a drink and a couple of goodies. Nobody said we have to be perfect all of the time, we do need to celebrate life. Just go into it with the thought that you're there to enjoy the people and the atmosphere and not the food. Why is it we get so focused on the food part of these things? lol I know you can do this! You've come way too far to let a measely ole drink (or 2) and some stinkin food get in your way!!!

I think that's a great idea, bring something healthy with you. Now there's a girl that's thinking. Candy is not my downfall. I will not even eat one piece, but if it is BEER and RICE their handing out somebody's gonna get hurt. I always like to have apps and drinks at my house before we take the kids out, but not this year. I guess fruit and veggie apps are all I'll be serving and no bloody mary's, what a shame. Cocchi

Hi!
I know that you don't know me, as I have only lurked on this board. I find you very inspirational. My stats are 210/182/135, so I don't have quite 100 pounds to lose, but enough that I love reading all the motivation you ladies have.

Anyway, my reason for posting! I worked at a warehouse-type store over the summer, and they have some great alternatives to Halloween candy. They had individually wrapped pretzel packs and popcorn bags. They were small and decorated all Halloween-y, so I think would be a very acceptable substitute. Then, the store also carries big packs of individual play-dos! I thought that that was such a cool alternative, since it doesn't center around food, but still is something fun to receive!

Anyway, I think this is how I will survive Halloween... by not buying candy to sit in my home tempting me. I love the idea of handing out play-do and pretzels, cause I can use the leftovers with very little guilt!

So you're like me with candy? Once I get a taste of one I just keep on at it.. not good.. not good at all. But you know what? I don't have a problem with Haloween at all (cuz I don't celebrate it LOL.. first plus I've seen ROFL)

But it's really good that it will fall in maintenance.. I guess the stars are on your side with this. At least now you have some options with the party & all.. Good luck.. I know how hard this is

i don't get too stressed out about it, cause 1st of all nobody EVER comes to our house to trick or treat, because we live right next to the cemetery.. LOL...
as far as eating the kids candy goes, i'm hoping to be good this year, 1 treat a day.... but my biggest downfall is the reeses peanut butter cups and the butterfingers...
we still have a big bowl of goodies from our local Homecoming parade 2 weeks ago.
