New here and just wanted to say HI

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the boards and new to having to lose weight. Recently I've put on a significant amount of weight and I mean significant. I've always been about 120 and I've put on about 100 pounds thanks to some anxiety/depression medication, poor eating habits, and lack of exercise. Like most people I watch the show "The Biggest Loser", and I've realized the participants losing large amounts of weight every week. How realistic can that be? I've heard 2 pounds a week and they're losing 10 or more. Am I missing something? I'm happy to have found a message board where I'll get some support, and motivation and also hopefully help support others.

welcome aboard and the best of luck to you.
You know I watched the Biggest Loser for the first time this week and I told dh the same thing...IF only I could lose 10 lbs a week I would be at goal in less than 3 months. Oh but to dream.......LOL It took me almost 4 months to lose 10 lbs....now if only I can lose 10 more!!

Hey there, nice to meet you... I think you'll enjoy the support and challenges here; it's a great group!
I've come close to losing 10 pounds in a week, but only when I was beginning to diet and shedding lots of water weight. Or hiking miles and miles and miles. After that, I have no idea HOW they manage to keep that pace up. To keep sane (no comments, please!), I assure myself that the slow way is healthier and will result in the weight staying off longer. This might even be true ;-)
Welcome aboard, and good luck to you!

Welcome,
I too am new here...today is my first day here on the message board. Start tomorrow fresh....and hopefully between all of us, we can get the support we are looking for...and desperately need.
Welcome to the board!
Hi and welcome to the board.. we're glad you're joining us.. we have a group of really great and supportive ladies. As for the biggest loser show, have you seen the amount of exercise they have? It's like they're exercising for 3 hours or so per day and really intense exercise too.. I don't think anyone can do this on their own. And besides, it's a TV show and they need dramatic results to keep the ratings up.
BTW What plan are you following?
