New & Looking For Support

Hi! I'm Jan. I'm 40yrs. old and am wanting to lose weight & be healthy! Also, I have an
important family wedding in about a year & don't want to go as I am now. My all time
weight high was 291. It's still unbeleivable to me that I let myself get so darn big!
As of today, I am 249. The weight has been coming off slowly over the past year. I suffer
with depression & take meds for that & also high blood pressure. Diabetes runs in the
family, so I'm sure that's next if I don't get this weight off.
I'm not on any type of "diet". Only eating healthy, smaller portions & incorporating
exercise.
I'm hoping to get to know you & maybe exchange some recipes/ideas.

there is still so much to go! I have to keep reminding myself that I have done well and
can make it to the finish line.

It scares me though. I don't want to be on these meds forever. I'm hoping that if I
can get the weight off, maybe they can at least lower my dose...

Welcome and good luck. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. I am bipolar and take meds for depression too. I know that makes it harder to loose weight. Be patient and keep working hard. Take care, Cyndi
Welcome to the board Jan, I'm glad you're joining us. Congratulations on your weight loss so far... You've gone a long way.. 42 lbs is a great achievement!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I think depression definately can make losing weight
harder at times! I am an "emotional eater". I try to ask myself why I'm actually
eating...am I really hungry? I also try to eat slow & do not let anything interrupt
my meal time. If I can do it, anyone can & you will! Don't give up!

Thank you for making me feel welcome, Cyndi
Thanks for the recipe info., I will be sure to check those out.
