I've only been here a week. I've been scouring the web for a place to be through my weight loss process. This "discussion" really spells out why I've floated for so long.

I'm a member of e-diets. I have been (because they autorenew) since 2004. Every renewal I go on and troll from board to board and try to find a place. None of the threads seemed to fit.

One - the regulars were so cliquish (sp i'm sure), you can't really get in on discussions shared between folks who know each other so well and you often aren't welcomed to.

Two - The newbie threads get the same thing "Welcome to the boards! Happy to have you" followed by silence.

Three - Everybody is so dang happy warm and fuzzy. I like the idea of being friends and friendly, but I swear, when I sit down to type how I'm feeling that day (which is usually negative), A big cheery jump on tomorrow and life is grand comment just doesn't seem to fit for me. Sometimes it helps, but sometimes I really need to be given a new propective. Seeing as how the e-diets board is full of people having these conversations, it obviously works for some people. Here, I've at least been given some suggestions. People have ASKED what I'm currently doing, and shared their processes.

As the obvious outsider looking in, I dont see where the original post was really meant to offend. I think the red lettering stating possible offense got some people in the defensive stance before ever reading the post. Everybody needs a little something different. I don't think new folders and new sections is the answer. Dare I say, you get to know the personality of people you talk to daily and you follow suit. You always set out not offend and it just falls into place. Let's not be catty fatties. LMAO. That was awful, but it's been in my mind since i started typing. I'm just trying to get my rhythm here because these boards actually seemed to have an open door to newbies (I hate that term). I would have to continue to roam if this becomes the center of the boards.

I ATE WELL YESTERDAY DAMMIT!! LET'S FOCUS ON THAT!! LMAO.

*stepping off soapbox*

LOL

I for one found your humor in that post. I am glad you feel this is a place that welcomes new faces! I know I usually just give the welcome aboard thing myself but half the time when new folks come up several new ones pop in at once at a time I am usually rushed in my posts....I know there is always someone who is going to go into more detail and if they don't within a day then i try to go back and post a more indepth response.

I know how it feels to be left out or feel out of place and I don't want anyone to feel that way.

Thanks for your insight!
