Hello, all--

Charley will be our next Member of the Week, beginning on Monday, 11/27... and especially with her exciting news, I'm guessing there will be many, many questions <>.

Are you ready, Charley?

What are your three great hopes for yourself in the next 10 years?

That's a good one... I hope I have a good teaching position, I hope I'm happily married to my chef, and I hope I am healthy enough to enjoy both.

What are three great hopes you have for the world?

I hope that someday we will no longer feel the need to invade countries for oil and get involved in civil wars that have been going on for millenia, I hope that someday there will be more money spent on cancer and alzheimer's research than there is money spent on viagra and breast implants, and I hope that we can go greener and maybe save enough of the world that the next generation can still enjoy it.

What's something of tremendous sentimental value to you that anyone else would see as junk?

Well, in my house that could be a lot of things LOL, I would have to say, again, my piano. It is the favorite thing I own, but it needs a LOT of cosmetic work. It was given to me by a piano bar that had just got a new one, and it was scratched and dinged and scraped, and it is still a work in progress. I have already had a new leg put on it, now I am trying to sand and refinish 1 part at a time, so far I've done the legs and the top, but it is really time consuming, and in the mean-time, it looks like sh*t, but it still sounds good. I love it because I've always wanted a big piano, but when I was a kid we couldn't afford it, so I finally got one, and it's staying with me for good.

That's really cool, I got my penchant for reading from my parents too. They are both scientists, so we are basically a family of nerds.

I know this is a silly question, but I have to know....

What part of Utah and Colorado did you live?

(I grew up in Utah and live in Colorado now)

When I was in Utah I lived in Cedar City, which is in the Southwest corner of the state, when I lived in Colorado I lived in Aurora and Elizabeth, which is in the Denver area. I think Aurora is Denver now, but Elizabeth is South of Denver and only had about 300 residents. Some of my family still lives there.

I have friends that live in Cedar City, I lived a couple hours north of there in the middle of nowhere.

I am living in Aurora now.

ok, that's kind of creepy. I still can't believe how much bigger Aurora is now, when I lived out there it was just a subdivision, with a huge empty lot across the street where we used to take the dogs to run, now it's all developed. You ever been to Elizabeth?

That's easy, Dean Koontz-Lightning, David Eddings-Pawn of Prophecy and Ayn Rand-Atlas Shrugged.

"You have long hair!! How cool!! Did you notice how rare this is getting? Do you know ANYBODY else who has long hair?"

Actually I know a quite a few people with long hair, but they are mostly under the age of 15, because around here they do this whole big thing on the girl's 15th bday that they become a woman, and then they are allowed to cut their hair any way they want, until then it's strictly all natural with a trim every few months. I don't think they do that in most places, but it is kind of a backward area.
