The good, the bad and the random

I had a pretty decent weekend, only one bad food day, but it was the grand opening of a very close friend's new restaurant, so I wasn't going to miss out on that one. Unfortunately there was no such thing as a salad in this place so it was either nachos, fajitas, or hamburgers. I had the burger, and the onion rings, but I did walk down the beach to help burn some of it off. I must be getting used to the smaller portions though, because I couldn't even eat the whole thing. So I made up for it by making a really good dinner last night. I had Mark and one of our other friends at the house and I made rosemary chicken with white wine and basil sauce on wild rice pilaf. I still have a piece of chicken and some rice left, so that is sitting in the fridge here at work waiting for lunch. It is really fun to cook with friends around, and it was low cal, low fat, and oh so tasty. I think I'm liking this whole "learning how to cook" experience. It helps that I have my chef to teach me (and reward me!) I'm going to have to start posting all of these recipes eventually. I think the next big step is going to be an herb garden, I love the fresh stuff, but it's SO expensive out here, darn shipping! I did find out that one of the plants in front of my favorite bar is rosemary, so now when I want some I just grab a pair of scissors and walk over there, now I have another reason to hit the bar! I think next week I'm going to have to make matza ball soup. I can do that one almost as good as my grandma. The only thing I do differently is use only organic foods whenever possible. It's more expensive, but there is a lot more flavor and I hate all that chemical stuff. If I'm not careful I'll turn into one of those hippies. With a little luck though, I'll be a skinny hippie.
Now I have another goal though, I already lost enough weight to look good in my formal dress for next week, so my next goal is going to be long term, and a wedding dress :)

I share your enthusiasm with the cooking thing.. I'm starting to learn (very slowly) to cook myself! I never learned to cook growing up.. and the first time I stepped in the kitchen was after I got married.. and that was to fix burgers and stuff. But about a year ago I suddently decided to cook.. and now I really enjoy coming up with stuff (that I don't remember afterwards LOL).

Please share your recepies!!
