Welcome Sherri

i am more of a lurker than poster but add my 2¢ every so often.

i also sit all day at a desk job so my advice to you would be first pick out a plan that will work for you. Make sure its a healthy plan with healty food choices and of course exercise. Being you are sitting most of the day its very important to incorporate exercise into your day, plus find at least 30 minutes (either before or after work, or maybe three 10 minute increments will work for you) if you get a lunch break, walk during lunch.
some tips at work, if possible use stairs instead of the elevator, park further away in the parking lot, move your wastepaper basket to a place you need to walk a couple steps to it. if you email coworkers, try to walk over and give them messages. it takes a little creativeness but very workable.

personally i exercise daily 30 min before work. i also wear a pedometer to make sure i get in all my 10000 steps. what worked for me is eating small amounts every couple of hours and i was successful on weight watchers. but you need to find what will work for you and a program you can live with the rest of your life, not reverting back to old habits after you lose the weight.
