Angela,
I'm probably better at 'tough love' than hugs, so I hope this comes across the right way.

I've been reading the board for a long time - just seeing what others struggle with has helped me not feel alone with this journey, and I've replied to you in my mind a lot, but I'm not sure if what/how I think will help you. But tonight you sound like you are in a little different place than usual, so I am hoping these are the right words at this time.

I've noticed that sometimes you say 'I'm addicted to fast food-I can't help eating it' And I see what a WONDERFUL mother you are, and I think 'If one of her kids said 'I'm addicted to crack cocaine, I can't help it' this woman would NOT think that was an excuse, she'd move heaven and earth to get them the help they need...now I'm not saying a Big Mac is the same as cocaine, but inside, don't you kind of know its killing you?

Or I've noticed that you say 'My husband doesn't buy the right food for me.' No matter how much you hate shopping, or whatever is the reason he's at the store (I applaud that, does he call from each aisle to ask you questions?), maybe you should take back control of the food that comes into your house? If you have to go shopping a couple times a week to have fresh vegetables, don't you think you're worth it? I do.

Your kids need you - they need you healthy - if you have to say 'This is MY FRUIT - DON'T EAT IT', you aren't being a mean mother - you are giving them the gift of a healthier mother who cares about herself.

I seem to say the same thing all the time -Angela, you DESERVE to take care of yourself - this is such a hard journey - but all of the answers are inside you!

You are at the start of so many great (and scary) new things - new job, new house - be extra good to yourself and feed yourself the kind of food you need to keep up your strength.

You can do this!

Actually I have taken over grocery shopping again! He did it while I was sick but he doesn't do it all the time!! Good lord there would be nothing but chips in the house!! LMAO!!

No that is why I haven't gained is because I started doing the shopping again, but actually and this is where I really had to laugh at your post, he does call a LOT from the store!! It is really funny, cuz I can get downright aggraavated. I have to make out a list and then if he can't find exactly what I have on the list he calls!! LOL sadly I know the grocery store well enough to pretty much tell him where it is. I do go a couple times a week, and well I do buy the fruits/veggies, then kindly forget there even there. It has never been habit to grab that and eat it. Growing up it was fried everything, and then when I got older and decided I needed to start eating healthier, ironically is when i gained weight. Don't get me wrong I am not saying I should eat Mc'D's every meal like I did when I lived at work (okay so it wasn't just Mc'D's but you get the point this was YEARS ago by the way) but weirdly enough I didn't gain til I quit! LOl

No I don't take your post wrong, and I do admit I have a problem with fast food sometimes but it isn't an all the time thing. Mostly when I am PMSing is it the worst! Lately, however, and this is why I say I must take advantage of myself, I do not even desire fast food often (unless waffle house is considered fast food, I could eat there every weekend LOL). IF I do crave fast food, and go ahead and laugh, it is a grilled chicken sandwich, and fries, nahhh not really. Occasionally but not often these days.

I thought a lot before replying to this post. Mainly because I know I have very similar issues. This past year I haven't really lost any weight.. I did lose one dress size though and permenantly changed a lot in my eating, but I can't find that spark KWIM. I am not doing bad (I haven't gained), but I am not doing really good either. I guess I'm saying I hear you and I have a problem too. I started with the calender thing for this month

Thank you Mary. I am the same way, I haven't really gained, yes I fluctuate between 250 and 256 but mainly stay around 251 so I am thinking that the fluctuation is waterweight not actual weight gain as I can drink water and it is back to 251 the next day.

I can't say right now I have changed anything permanently as I haven't. YES I do want water now, and it irks me when I run out without realizing it and have to drink coke, I don't want coke anymore, in fact I get one and usually don't finish it unless it is a fountain drink! I want tea or water again which is a big issue so I am going to go with that as the permanent change to be proud of this year. It is nice to know I am not completely alone in my problem too.

I will work through this, someway, somehow, and I hope to lose more next year, but if I don't, If I only lose 8-10 lbs again, well that is 8-10 lbs I had this year that I won't have next KWIM?? I came into this thinking if I just got active, and ate a little less it would be a breeze! Well one thing this board and this year has taught me is weightloss is NOT a breeze, it is a very hard and real struggle! I have never really tried before this year and thought that was the real reason I didn't lose. Well I tried for a few months at least this year before I got so sick and even getting sick I didn't lose, of course I blame those blasted steroids. My accomplishment through it all, I didn't gain with the steroids this time. YEAH ME!!! Last year I gained 15 lbs with them....well I have 8 of it off!! Now to work on the other 7!! LOL

Thank you everyong for your responses!

I believe a lot of my problem over the last few years has been being home with kids, lonely, no friends to hang out with and desperate for dh to come home to have an adult to talk to. The difference this year, my best friend and I are really back on track after having some problems in our friendship for several years (long story, but suffice to say her ex dh kept her away from me) & I came here and have you guys to talk to!! It has really helped me to slow down and not gain anymore anyways. Now to get to losing!! And it has to only get better as I get out of the house, go back to work, and get a life all my own that isn't centered completely around my family!! It is high time I do something for me!! So why is this scaring the hell out of me?? LMAO It is so what I want but it seems like a foreign world to me now and yea I am scared, but
