I am 47 years old, my weight is 310# and it's time to get all this weight off. I have over 150# to lose. Events coming in 2007 are pushing me to get started and motivaed.
30th wedding anniversary
30th class reunion
2 family weddings
So I thought if I started to chat with others like me I would have somethig to do when I want to eat. ( and that is most all the time. )
I am not going to weigh myself til 01/01/07. BUT I am going to start walking 20 minutes two times a day. Want to join me amd make 2007 the year we finally take off pounds and get fit!

Chatting with others really has helped me at least not gain anymore this year. I have only lost 8 lbs since March but hey, at least I didn't gain. I think it will help even more when I start work in 2 weeks and then I won't be home to munch and hopefully I can lose more than 8 lbs in 2007!!

Welcome aboard and best of luck!!

Welcome to the board. It sounds like you've really got some motivation to get going! I hate to be a pain in the butt, but do you really want to wait until 2007 to get started? When I think how many extra pounds I must have put on along the way telling myself that after x more meals, or x more days I'm going to get started! Ugh! I'd probably be at a normal weight.

All the best,
Annie

Hi, and welcome! Nice to see someone about my age; I feel like I'm surrounded by young moms! Or maybe the other old ladies aren't telling their ages, lol. Anyway, I'm 48, closing in on 49, and I have found that age is making it harder to take the weight off, so I'm trying to be patient with myself. Of course, not exercising is making it harder too, but that's a whole different thread!

I too wasn't planning to weigh myself, except when I went to the doctor's office, but I'm reconsidering that plan. I've been eating healthier for about 5 weeks now, and I have no idea whether I'm losing weight or not since the first drop when the clothes fit better. I feel about the same for the past few weeks. So...I'm going out today to buy a scale. I want to weigh myself maybe every two weeks. If I get to obsessive over it again, like weighing every single time I feel thinner, I'm going to have my dh hide the scale and only pull it out for me every two weeks!

Good luck to you, and congratulations on all those life milestones! Here's to a skinnier 2007!

Welcome aboard!! I think it's great that although you're "officially" starting on the 1st, you're still doing things to help you out this month. I think getting in those 2 weeks

I hear what you are saying about waiting, BUT I have been losing all year and I have hit a wall. The scale has played with my mind lately. So that is why I am not getting on it for a while. I am not going to go crazy and gain a bunch of weight! Thanks for keeping me real!

I to have found losing harder now! ( you younger girls take note lose it now before 45) Be carful with the scale it can mess with your brain and emotions. Once a week at the same time I think is good. Join me in walking 2 times a day for ONLY 20 minutes. It will help I promise. You don't have to go fast start slow it will still be a benifit to your weight loss.
One day at a time Mary, her we go, Christine

I only asked because personally I'm a perpetual procrastinator, not to be a jerk. I'm always looking forward to some future date when it will be easier instead of doing what I can in the moment. I'm looking forward to joining you when the new year momentum kicks in, but maybe we can use December as a month where we don't lose ground! See you around! Annie
