I am 47 years old, my weight is 310# and it's time to get all this weight off. I have over 150# to lose. Events coming in 2007 are pushing me to get started and motivaed.
30th wedding anniversary
30th class reunion
2 family weddings
So I thought if I started to chat with others like me I would have somethig to do when I want to eat. ( and that is most all the time. )
I am not going to weigh myself til 01/01/07. BUT I am going to start walking 20 minutes two times a day. Want to join me amd make 2007 the year we finally take off pounds and get fit!

One day at a time, Christine
Hey I'm in! I'm currently at 291. I think I won't weigh until January 1st as well. It might be hard for me because I'm addicted to that dumb scale, but I think it might be a nice surprise when I weigh on the 1st. I'm not currently logging anything so to speak, but I will be posting updates on milestones and successes. I'm looking forward to wearing the clothes I wore when I was first got married.
Looking forward to 2007,take it one day at a time, Christine
WORKING ON GOAL # 2
JOGGING MY WAY TO 175 BY
2x a day? But that's so haaaard... LOL. I will get there eventually, but I'm starting out a bit slower; I just want to make myself get into the habit of doing my 15-min. "Walk Away the Pounds" tape every other day. That's my first goal. Then, once I can rely on myself to do that, I'll ratchet up the frequency. How's that sound?
We old ladies need to stick together! I'll encourage you if you'll encourage me. We have a few special metabolic and perimenopausal issues (are you there yet?) that we can support each other through. I sure don't have the energy I used to, and I never was very energetic to begin with. I think building up the exercise slowly will help that though. I hope!
Here's to us in 2007!

Glad to have all the input from everyone.

Mary and Christine,
I have to jump in and claim my 'oldness' I hit the big 5-0 this year - and hard to believe, but I love it! My brother came through with the party of my life...
I am on the other side of menopause, and I love that too. Every day is 'the same' - no insanity for five days a month, no cravings, no pain. I did have night sweats for a while, and part of my weight gain I think came from 'the change', but on the other side, I feel great.
I started my weight loss journey almost four years ago with three visits to the gym a week - two for thirty minutes, one for an hour. I lost about a pound a week and leveled off where I am after about a year - but my body is different now, so even though my weight is the same, its a lot more muscle. I was NEVER a person who liked exercise, going all the way back to school gym class, which I hated.
But with gradual increases each month, I now go to the gym 4-5 days a week for an hour and a half (I'm single/no kids-I know that kind of time committment won't work for most people) and I do at least something like walking/stretching the days I don't go to the gym. It wasn't easy to make this change, but it is do-able, and for me it has been SO worth it. I thought I was destined to be fifty and fat, and instead, I made it to fifty feeling fabulous...
I can say for sure that it is never too late to be good to yourself!

I have to say thank you to you for realizing that kids take up a lot of time. Most people say so what you have kids, that is just an excuse, but for those who have kids it is much harder to find the time that isn't taking away from precious time to spend with your kids to exercise. That is why when I can exercise I try to do something with my kids. I love playing ball with them and stuff but unfortunately I can't always breathe enough to do it (asthma).
Most people without kids just don't get it, and it is good to know there are some out there that do!! Thanks to those that do get it!!
