Skin care question??

Hey, does anyone else have issues with body shrinking and skin staying the same? I've lost weight and my skin isn't keeping up, so I look like I'm melting.

"I'm melting! I'm melting! Oh, what a world, what a world" (Wicked Witch of the West melts in to puddle)

I've started putting on lotion every day to keep my skin full of moisture and (hopefully) more elastic and that SEEMS to be helping a bit. Does any one have any more suggestions?

Yep, I have the same issue and I got some responses on the post if you want to take a look at what was suggested - all the products seem soo expensive though. I would like to meet someone that has actually used them before I make such a purchase. *sighs*

that is to the post that has some suggestions. Congrats though on the weight loss :)

I've lost pretty slowly, but I also have been pretty obsessive about putting on skin/body lotion twice a day - I shower in the morning, and then again after I work out and I slather it on all over after each while I'm still a little on the damp side. I like how it smells, and also I try to think nice thoughts about my changing body while I'm doing it (a little wierd maybe, but I try to focus on the positive and this helps me - it also keeps me aware of what I really look like and that helps me with denial)

I use a bunch of different lotions, most from one of those bath and body shops, one from Clinique. I don't think the cost matters a lot (meaning the quality isn't any better from cheap to semi-expensive), I think its the frequency that has helped.

My skin has kept up with me pretty well, and I am not one of the young ones on the board (I'm 50).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, SJ. I have a problem with dry skin anyway, so I'm sure it won't help when more weight comes off. I'll start lotioning up right away! I'm right behind you in age too; I'll be 49 in a couple of months, so it's good to know that I'm not too old to keep my skin from getting too saggy.

Kim,

Thanks for the link to the previous posts on this topic. I do know that if skin stays in position for a moment after it's pinched, the person is normally not sufficently hydrated. I know I don't get enough liquids, so that is somethink else I can do.

I also lotion up twice daily. Once after my a.m. shower and again before bed.

I'm 24 now (25 in January!!) and am hoping that my age will be helpful in allowing my skin to return to it's original shape.

Thanks again.

Dee
