This week is just a mess.

Eat, girl, eat! You definitely want to take antibiotics with food or the nausea will be bad. Also, you should be eating at least a little something (healthy, like toast and peanut butter or cheese or turkey breast) every 3-4 hours so your blood sugar doesn't dip too low.

This is how I'm getting through the holidays; by eating every few hours, something on plan, and eating my planned meals for all the but the big holiday meals. So, on Christmas, I'll eat a healthy breakfast, have the big Christmas dinner around 2pm, and then have a very light supper. Also, I'm more into "real food" than sweets, so I can easily give up a Christmas cookie for, say, an extra helping of stuffing or potatoes. I'm going to allow myself only one plateful, and if I still feel hungry, I'll eat more turkey breast. I have to eat more slowly (I'm faster than my husband most of the time) and take the time to put down the fork, drink water and chat at the table. This will help me fill up on less food. And that's as much as I'm going to worry about it. If I eat more than I planned, well...I'll just go back to plan at the nearest opportunity. I'm scheduled to weigh in tomorrow; after that, I'll wait two weeks so if any damage is done, I should be able to get rid of at least some of it and I won't be beating myself up for gaining weight.

Hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck, we're almost ready for those New Year's resolutions!

I agree with Ursaluna you should be eating while on antibotics. I haven't exactically started yet since I'm only new to this 'dieting' thing. I am planning to try to eat normal but keep up with my water intake. Good luck with it all.

Hi Dayle,

I hope you're feeling much better now! That's such a miserable way to curb your appetite. This can be a stressful time of year even under the best of circumstances, let alone with illnesss to figure into the mix. And I don't know about you, but stress is definitely an eating trigger for me.

You know you best... if you stick to a really tough plan, will it throw you off stride (and the wagon)? Perhaps a modified version of your plan is in order during the holidays? Or is this the point at which you grit your teeth and concentrate on all the non-food pleasures of the season?

Personally, I keep reminding myself of two things: 1) how good I'll feel if I hit that elusive 230 (or even come close at this point, LOL) and 2) although "sociable" eating is the rule of the month, eating more doesn't mean I'm being more sociable! Like you, I'm doing reasonable well at events that I can plan for. At home with a fridge full of goodies is tougher. Ugh.

Wishing you strength, health, and a wonderful holliday!
