New here...but determined!

Hi all,
My name is Diane and I just found this board today. I admit it's reassuring to find some other lovely ladies "fighting the same fight". I am 40, soon to be 41 next week :) I started the South Beach Diet 3 days ago, and removed my laundry from the treadmill and have been on it for 30 minutes every day this week. I start my journey at my highest weight ever ..257. My goal...gosh, I almost am too afraid to dream in real numbers. If I could find 160, that would be a miracle. My sub-goal....to be able to buy (and wear) a pair of Gap jeans. I want to say goodbye to having to seek out special stores to buy my clothes.....

I hope to get to know you, and thanks for having me!

Diane

I am another one that is determined to lose weight this year. I have been saying this for such a long time and this time I really would like to believe it. My name is Donna and I have been struggling for so long and really need to lose 50 pounds too. I am glad that I came upon this website and found all the people that need to lose too.

Good Luck and welcome to the board. I need to lose 125lbs and I'm sick of being like this. I want to be skinny for next year's christmas.

Hi Diane,

Welcome to the board! You and I are on a similar track. I'm 44 and started '06 at your weight. Lost a few pounds then got off track when my father became ill, gained most of it back and then started up again. I think your goals are completely attainable and look forward to sharing the road with you. All the best, Annie 252/235/156

Thank you everyone for the welcomes!

Susan, it's great to have "met" you....it feels better already having someone to share the road with! Best of luck right back to you!

I am brand new on here, too. I'm at my heaviest weight ever as well. I can totally relate to your goal of wanting to fit into Gap jeans. I'd love to be able to go to Old Navy...it seems all the cute clothes are totally out of my realm. Good luck to you.

Hello Diane! I am glad that you found the board. I have just returned home after being at my parents for the holidays and was terribly excited to see only a one pound increase.

I used to post here and life got in my way but I won't let that happen again (I hope)! Everyone is so supportive and I have learned quite a bit too.

I am currently at 255 and my highest known weight was 281. I follow Weight Watchers and it seems to work for me but I know that everyone is following something different here.

Good luck to you!

Melissa

PS. I can't fathom my dream too of being able to walk into ANY store and just buy cute clothes that I have always liked.

Welcome aboard Diane!! You can reach your goal.. you can reach 160! I recently was able to fit into a size 16, and you can't believe how wonderful it feels to be able to shop in some regular stores (not all, but some).. and once I did that, I think 165 lbs seem attainable now :)

Don't overwhelm yourself with the big picture, small steps will add up. Good luck!
