New here...but determined!

Hi all,
My name is Diane and I just found this board today. I admit it's reassuring to find some other lovely ladies "fighting the same fight". I am 40, soon to be 41 next week :) I started the South Beach Diet 3 days ago, and removed my laundry from the treadmill and have been on it for 30 minutes every day this week. I start my journey at my highest weight ever ..257. My goal...gosh, I almost am too afraid to dream in real numbers. If I could find 160, that would be a miracle. My sub-goal....to be able to buy (and wear) a pair of Gap jeans. I want to say goodbye to having to seek out special stores to buy my clothes.....

I hope to get to know you, and thanks for having me!

Diane

Thanks so much Mary! Today was my weigh in day - 1 week complete on the South Beach Diet. I lost 9 pounds!! Best of all, I didn't feel like I was starving. I still miss bread and pasta and rice...but I am so glad that my cravings for cookies, ice cream, all the sugar that I was addicted to, really are gone. I'm not sure I much believed the book about the cravings going away...but it really works. On to the second week!!

Thanks for the support
Diane

You are so right! It happened to me just last week when I was shopping for some exercise clothes. I had gift cards to Macys and JCPenneys, so I thought, let me look there first. My mom and my sister were with me. We had a great day together.....and I should have known better than to end it with "evil clothes shopping". My mom is looking around the dept and I asked her to look for Womans sizes (I don't think her skinny butt knows what they are) , and she shouts out...I don't think they make them that big!!!

I slithered home...and made my way to Lane Bryant. I want to BANISH that feeling for YOU and ME both!!

Best to you

Way to go on your great start!! I am totally with you on the clothing sizes. When I started this journey I was a size 26, a week ago I bought a size 16/18, granted they were sweat pants, but they were in a teen size!! I felt so great about myself. You can do this!!!
