Welcome, Maryanne! Uh-oh, another "Mary" alert! We have 3 Marys, 1 Mary Beth and now Maryanne. There's something about Mary...lol.
Anyway, you will find all the support you can use here, but only you know in your heart if you're really serious about taking care of yourself and being patient with your body. I've always been heavy, am now 48 and finally see the light that I really have to do this. I hope you will see it much sooner!
Once you look at this process as life-changing, and it won't always be easy, you begin to see what you have to do. Cutting portion sizes was the big eye-opener for me. I learned that I can still eat the foods I love, mostly, as long as I eat much less. Sometimes I hate that fact, but I know that it's what I have to do to stay healthy; I'm not ready to be an old lady yet!
I look at the food I'm eating as nourishing and nurturing to my body. I look at exercise as a chance for my muscles to do what they were made to do. I look at the water I drink as essential to every basic bodily function that happens in a given day. If you're not a fan of water, and it's hard to be in cold weather, try adding some Crystal Light to give it some flavor. Drinking plenty of water keeps your skin healthy, keeps toxins from building up and keeps your kidneys, bladder and liver healthy. It also keeps you more mentally alert and prevents dehydration headaches. So drink that water!
I wish you the best in your weight loss journey. We all understand that it can be depressing, but you have to get past that and DO something. It boosts your self-esteem if you can say that you ate healthy, drank water and moved today, whether the numbers are going down or not. Put that 318 in the back of your mind and get to work; when you weigh yourself again (don't do it more than every few weeks, imo) you will be lighter.
I look forward to posting and losing with you!
