I am completly unable to get motivated, it has been 30 below zero for 3 days now and I don't want to do anything but curl up in bed with a magazine or my laptop and stay warm. How do you all stay active in the winter?

Brr-rrr-rrrr!

It was 70 degreees here in Boston this weekend - NOT what we usually get in January. Everyone in the city was running around in shorts and cut-offs - I'm SURE you don't want to hear that...

I know I couldn't cope with 30 below - I walk everywhere but if it goes below zero, I'm calling a taxi...

The only thing I can suggest is to think of something you want (earmuffs?) and make a deal with yourself - like if I exercise for 20 minutes for seven days, I'll do/buy/say whatever. Then make a big chart and hang it up where you can see it and mark off the days you succeed. Of course, FOOD can't be the reward!

If you have kids, and you have something you'd like them to do (make their beds so you don't hibernate in them?) let them pick a task and a reward and add them to the chart - then everyone is working towards something and you can be 'the example' for them.

Sending you warm thoughts if not warm breezes...

Thanks SJ, It was 46 degrees below zero this morning. That is just too cold for human beings. My husbands car wouldn't start even being plugged in so he drove my truck and then made the trip back to pick up me and the kids to get them to school and I took him back to work and then came home and hibernated the rest of the day until time to pick them all up again. WE did make it to the gym this afternoon though. I feel a little better about that. I love doing my yoga and biggest loser dvd's but it is so hard to even go out in my living room at all(thats the coldest part of the house) and the only place with enough room. Hopefully this cold spell will end soon and I can get back to feeling human rather than a icicle.

And I've been complaining that it's "freezing" here and it was "only" 46 - 50 degrees. Can't offer you any advice, I am hibernating just thinking about your weather brrrrr
