Just wondering if anyone else caught this movie on lifetime. I am in the middle of watching it now and I have not formulated an opinion yet, but was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on it.

I hadn't heard of the movie, so I imdb'd it and I am definitely going to look for it.

I actually saw the commercials for it and scheduled it to record (DVR is a beautiful thing). I watched it last night and it was interesting. It took me a little bit to warm up to it though because the main character is a BRAT....
But at the end of the movie she makes this dramatic realization about people who struggle with their weight. It's a typical lifetime movie in my opinion....but it not too bad.
I still maintain that even if someone wears a "fat suit" they have NO idea what it's like to struggle with food.
Anywho...that's just my 2 cents!

The movie's actually a twist on the 1960's movie Black Like Me (which I haven't actually seen, but heard about several years ago)

I did find it interesting (Maybe just because I'm a psych major) how the daughter had her own battles with food because of her mom's weight and health problems. The daughter said at one point in the movie that her mother's weight problems made her (the daughter) scared of her own body. It was as if she pushed herself to eat right and exercise because she was scared of what she could become.
Parenting is a fine line thing I suppose. The reason that I want to be healthy is so that my kids will understand that you have to be careful, but I never want to push them so hard that they have their own problems themselves...ya know....

That is the conversation the movie sparked between dh and I, we were discussing that balance in parenting. We have 2 naturally skinny kids and one kid who is above average. She isn't fat, but she has my genetics and is just a bigger person. Mainly I guess we were realizing that we want to set the same example for all of them, just because the other two are skinny doesn't mean they will be healthy and just because she is larger doesn't mean she will be unhealthy, they all need to eat right and be active. Our one daughter may have to work harder to control her weight then her brother and sister, but the same thing happens in other parts of life, our son has to struggle his way through school and our daughter can skate through.
I too want my kids to be aware of themselves and their health and know how to eat well and take care of their bodies, but I don't want them to be obsessed with being skinny.
