I've always been told that you shouldn't eat after a certain time, but night time is always when I eat the most.

Honest ... all that night time eating talk ... is that people tend to mindlessly snack in front of the TV. If you are watching what you eat and are loosing weight ... forget about it. Time has nothing to do with anything. Simple formula, when intake of calories is lower than calories burned, weight loss happens.

I think people make too many rules about eating and not eating. When to exercise and when not too ... but really, it's all about doing what works for you. Sounds like you really value dinner with your husband when he gets home ... so why in the world would you give that up?

I used to work out at the Y first thing in the morning and then go to work ... but then I didn't see my kids in the morning. I really like those smiling faces and hugs and kisses goodbye. So now I take the dog for a long walk, shower at home and get my kid love first thing ... works for me!

It's all about what works for you and what fits your needs and values.

It's so funny you posted this tonight - I work out with the most awesome trainer, and just a few hours ago we were talking about food/eating. I have managed to add breakfast to my life (after years of claiming I couldn't eat in the morning), added two snacks (mid-morning/mid afternoon) after years of thinking that eating between meals would make me gain. However, I still need to eat at night or I don't sleep well. And we were talking about this, and he suggested that I have either a shake or yogurt with protein added before I go to bed.

He assured me that he always has some kind of protein snack right before he goes to sleep - that your body 'heals' at night and the protein helps the healing. And beleive me, he has a body that looks like its healed to perfection!

So if you are having your meal later at night, it seems like you'd be in the 'protein at night' category and that should be fine.

I am going to try the yogurt this week and see what happens.

I do think the key to all this is to do what works for you, and it is better to follow a less than perfect plan that gives you results than to not follow the 'perfect' plan!

Enjoy your dinner!

You know, I pretty much felt that way anyway, but it's always nice to have an affirmation!

I'm with all of you.. I don't think you need to change anything. You're already losing a lot of weight, so it couldn't be "wrong" for you. IF you get into a plateau and need to change some things, then MAYBE you can look into it. But right now, just keep going as you are. You're doing fantastic!

My trainer always said that it's important to limit the carbs within 3 hours of going to sleep.

If you are losing 5 lbs per week ... I'm reminded of quote in When Harry Met Sally ... "I'll have what she's having!"

Keep up the good work!
