getting frustrated

Ok, On Christmas I started taking Seasonale which made me quite sick for a while but I am finally adapting to it. My problem is that when I was sick I wasn't eating much and naturally wasn't losing much. Now even though I am feeling better I can not seem to get enough calories in, I am not a morning eater at all (makes me sick), I eat at noon at the earliest. Until recently I drank a coffee drink every morning which added to my calories, but I gave that up. I eat every few hours after noon with a big meal around 4-5 and a snack at 7 or so, I keep track of my calories on a site and I am only managing 900-1100. I used to lose 2-3 pounds a week and now I am only losing 1 +. I want to get back to where I was but am not sure how to get more calories in. Plus I am back to my excercise routine which means I need to add some additional calories, so I just don't know what to do. Anyone else have any issues like this?

Hey there,
I am not a breakfast person either. One of the things that helps me is to eat non-breakfast foods, like maybe a piece of turkey breast or a rice/popcorn cake. (I also really like Swedish crispbreads which are typically packed with fiber and are low in calories. I either put a little peanut butter or low fat cream cheese on them.) Another trick I have found works is to have 1/2 a can of Slimfast. That gets some calories in and it's a lot easier for me to drink something than to eat when I have that icky feeling. Good luck, Annie
P.S. What's Seasonale?

Annie--Thanks for all the tips, I am going to work on it. This morning just drinking water made me nauseous. Seasonale is the birth control pill that lets you only have a period every three months. I don't need the birth control, my dh had a vasectomy 5 years ago, but my periods are horrible so I thought this might be a good solution.

Hmm, maybe I need to ask my gynie about Seasonale, thanks for filling me in. The older I get the worse my TOM gets. Another thing that helps me is to wake up earlier and to exercise before I have anything. When I get off the treadmill I can slam down a big glass of water that would otherwise make me feel barfy. :-)

I recommend Seasonale even though I only just started taking it. My sil has been on it for more than a year now and loves it!! Just the thought that I won't have to deal with my TOM for another 2 + months makes me feel so much better. My insurance coverage is really good too, I only have to pay $19 for 3 months.

Hmmmmm. I am wondering if you discussed with the family doc or the gyno the fact that you were in the process of loosing weight? I wanted to be put on b.c. pills and was told no because that hinders the exercise and my eating plans. I too wanted to be on seasonale. I have heard some good things bout Loestrin b.c perhaps that would work better for you and you wouldn't be feeling so ill!

Good Luck

I can't take BCP for those reasons... I had horrible side effects even with the lowest doses availabe, terrible depression issues, nausea, sulfuric tastes in my mouth, etc...so thought I would love to go 3 months at a time before TOM I will just have to suffer.......LOL hope it gets better for you soon.

Angie--My ob/gyn knew about my weight loss efforts and never mentioned anything. He is really pro the pill though. I orignially made the decision to give it two weeks and see if the side effects subsided, then I talked to another dr. who said it can take longer, so I decided to give it a month. Well, just in the last few days the side effects are gone and that is just about three weeks in.

The side effects are awful!! I deffinatly wouldn't be able to handle taking the pill if the side effects were constant, that is why I gave myself a goal to try and take them for a month and I am glad I did, I have no side effects now. If it were a regular pill I wouldn't have been able to force myself but the lure of not having a period but every three months was enough to motivate me.

The side effects of BCP were sooooo bad for me that I couldn't take them...which is why I now have 2 kiddos who are only 17 1/2 months apart :)

The good thing was (For me it was a good thing....it's not the best situation for everyone) that when I had ds I had an emergency c section and I didn't stop bleeding...so they had to do a hysterectomy. I was never sooooooo excited...I don't have to worry about all that jazz anymore :) Of course the year and a half afterwards was a bit hectic trying to get hormone doses right, but I'd do it all over in a minute!!!

I don't get my period for 3\4 months. My periods are over the place. I love to have them monthly though.
