so what type of rewards do you give yourself when you reach a goal etc.
i when i hit 300 i didn't really give myself a reward.. my next goal is 270 which hopefully will be here very soon.. i think i'm going to have girls day. ( no kids - no husband.)
when i hit 242 (my 100 lb mark) i'm going to spend $$ on myself...
i am going to get acrylic nails (sculptured w/ pink & white acrylic so they look "manicured" all the time.. they cost about $65 and the fills every 2 weeks cost $30)

I haven't thought of any short-term goal rewards . . . though I like the tattoo idea.

I started doing my nails once I lost 75.
My reward for when I reach my goal weight of 130lbs is brand new wardrobe and new haircut. I can't wait to become one sexy person again like I was at 19. For my first 40lb weightloss I'm going to spoil myself with a facial.

Sara,
I set my goals based on activity, not pounds lost -
My original committment to myself was to go to the gym three times a week. After I did that for six months, I bought myself a pair of amethyst earrings - and I wore them to Thanksgiving dinner. I had been dreading the meal, thinking I would eat out of control and never get back on plan. But every time I thought I wanted seconds, or should have two desserts, and through that whole weekend, I touched the earrings and remembered how much I had sweat to get where I was, and it really helped motivate me to stay on plan.
I also reward myself with just the words I say to myself. For a long time, I kept an exercise journal and at the end of each week I'd write something nice to myself about how hard I'd worked out or if I went to the gym when I was tired, or whatever. That affirmation really helped me change the words in my head from negative to positive. I don't do this as much now because I've changed a lot and inside my head is pretty positive, but it really helped me. (I still log the exercise, but I don't write out the praise - but maybe I'll start again)
I also reward myself by recording how I feel when other people say something to me that is positive- either noticing that I have lost weight, or other things. One thing I love about my gym is that the trainers there praise people for their efforts - even tonight, one of them said something to me like -'It's not easy, is it, but you're here and that's what counts' I was feeling a little sorry for myself, and that comment picked me right up. On bad days, I go back and read the journals, and I see how much good is coming to me for the efforts and it helps me.
Anyway, that's what I do...
