how to beat the plateau?

Hey,
I have been stuck at the same weight for about 3 months now. I stay within my calorie limit, I try to step up the excercise and drink more water but I seem to be stuck! Has this happened to anyone else? Its just getting discouraging to step on the scale every week for 3 months and not see any loss! Thanks in advance.

try upping your water intake as well as adding about 10-15 min more exercise a day. also try making some changes to your food intake. for example if you are eating salads, switch to veggies. have an extra fish meal a week. skip red meat for a week. cut down on breads, if you are eating 2 breads a day, try 1 1/2 a day. are you eating 3 meals or 6 mini meals. go for the mini meals.
I went through 2 major plateaus while losing so i do totally understand your frustration. your body does well with change.

With a few ups and downs, I was 'stuck' for almost a year - but even though my weight stayed the same, my body kept changing, and I am 'smaller' even if the scale didn't show it.
I am finally ready to cut back again - work harder and eat even more carefully. But I hung in there thinking that 'even if this is what I have to do to stay at this weight, it's better than going up again'.
When I finally took a hard look, I could see that I had gotten careless with food, and I've recently made changes like those others have suggested here - trying to find 500 calories a day that I either don't eat or add in exercise. So far, for me it seems to be helping.
Best wishes

Well you're not alone, I understand your frustration. I've been on a plateau for a whole year now (losing and gaining the same 5 lbs), so I'm definetly not the one to offer advice. But by comparing my journals now and from when I started I noticed that I"m slacking a lot. I've been much more strict with my food back then and with my portions, so I will return to that. I noticed I also give myself a lot of "treats" even when I don't really want them. So now I'm only getting treats when they're planned or deserved. I'm also going to exercise again. I usually don't see a lot of weight loss when I exercise, but I do lose inches and that's what's important. If you're exercising, take your measurments cuz you may be losing inches while the scale remains the same.
