I wonder if it's possible

First allow me to say hello to everyone before I just jump right in and ask my question. Currently I'm at about a horrendous 211 pounds. I haven't always been this size this is a recent thing that has slowly creeped up on me over the last couple of years; anyway as we do every year we're going back to my most favorite place in the world, and I want to lost the weight! My long time boyfriend is wonderful and never mentions my weight, however; I know how I feel and therefore it can't be that great for him. We leave in August on the 2nd and I want to be at 135 pounds, which is still more than I used to weigh but I wanted to be somewhat realistic. Do you think it's possible or am I setting myself up for failure? I've been doing 2 hours of cardio a day and in the last week I've lost 10 pounds I started at 221. I know the numbers aren't going to be that big every week, but do you think it's possible to lose the amount I want to lose in about 7 months? I'd love any advice and congrats to everyone who has already done so well it's amazing and inspiring to read a lot of the messages here. Thanks again and Mahalo!

So you want to lose 65 pounds - I think it seems very realistic. I lost 40 pounds in 4 months last year (before I got preggo) - but it did take a great deal of consistency and commitment.

One thing I would recommend is strength training too. Don't forget, muscles burn the fat.

I do the Power90 DVD - have done that for years. I love it - aerobic one day, strength and abs the next. Do this 5 times a week. (supposed to do it 6 but I just can't on weekends!)

The right working out is key. I used to do a circuit like Curves type thing. That also worked great. Mixture of cardio and strength and low impact.

I've lost tons of weight only working out 30 minutes a day. Everyone is different but consider mixing it up a bit and see if you can get more out of your 2 hours (that is a lot for me!)

Also - water water water. And portions portions portions. Those are my two nemises. I tend to eat good quality - just too much of a good thing. I also tend to avoid water - so I have to force it into my day.

Finally - get the support you need here. I'm 315 pounds and need to get to 180 so you have a lot of people who are pushing to do the same. You are not alone and can't feel badly about how you got to be 211 - just feel good about how you are never going to be 211 again! ;-)

I have a reunion in August that I'm trying so hard to get thinner for. Like I said I have 135 pounds to lose - but come heck or high water - I'm going to do my darnedest to make that happen!

Thank you so much for the great tips. I usually use an elliptical that I have here at the house. I actually enjoy using it which is why I do about 2 hours (split up of course). As for weights I do agree I should probably do more. As of now I do a little using some weights at home. The water thing was something that wasn't that hard for me to get used to, but as for most people I'm sure the controlling portion sizes was the most difficult and I still catch myself sometimes and have to remind myself of my ultimate goal. I've heard mixed responses from friends none of whom are over weight; about losing that much weight in that given amount of time. I thought it sounded somewhat possible but at the same time I don't want to be setting myself up for failure. I don't want to be setting a goal for myself that just isn't possible and then not reach it and slump back into my old habits just because I'm frustrated (which is something I would do). Thanks so much for the reply and advice I look forward to posting more and helping others where and when I can also.

I just thought that I'd put in my 2 Cents...

If you're having trouble with the weight training portion then you can always to 'resistance' training. Using the tube thingys. A girlfriend of mine does this to a video (I'm not sure which one) But it's something to look into :)

Another great way to tone and sculpt the body is through pilates, ( I love the winsor dvds), and yoga is also great.
