Feeling guilty....

OK so I messed up...... I've been drinking lots of water but yesterday I went and bought two kinds of cookies and a package of 6 Baby Ruth candy bars. It's been hard for me because I'm so used to eating stuff jammed packed with sugar and NO nutritional value. Just feeling really guilty as I ate pratically the package of the one kind of cookies, shared with them with my husband and two friends, had 3 baby ruth candy bars yesterday. I am just hanging my head in shame today. It's hard to stop eating bad food. Yet, I want this weight to come off but it's hard. Feel like I don't have any will power. Yesterday my Leslie Sansone video came in the mail so I'm happy about that and I did it yesterday and today so that's some positive news. I just thought I would let you ladies know. It also helps get it off my chest. -Susan

I know it's hard, but think about ways to be creative to satisfy that sweet tooth. I love fresh berries with sugar free vanilla pudding or the non fat whipped cream. A serving of fruit is something I can always use. The little cups of sugar free pudding are 60 calories. The chocolate fudge swirl really do help. They are creamy and good. Just learn to savor it, eat slowly and enjoy the textures. Takes a little retraining. I'd also see if there are emotional triggers ... that gets me a lot, I'm a stress eater. I'm working very hard on meditating a few minutes a day to calm myself.

Good luck and remember ... ask yourself if you could go all day without the cookies and the candy? Just one day. Don't think about it as being forever ... just one day and see how it goes.

Someone else here has a great quote in their 'siggy' ... I've come to far to take orders from a cookie. I just smile every time I see that.

OK, so that was yesterday...the best part of this journey is we get a new day every day to try again.

Someone recently made a point I love 'when a baby starts to walk, the first time he/she falls down, we don't say 'bad baby, you'll never learn how to walk' We say 'that's OK, you're OK, here's my hand, try again'

Here's my hand...

Colleen,
THANKS SO MUCH! I am going to have to find new ways to satisfy my sweet tooth. Thank you for the suggestions! I will use them! My friend Angie (who is also a member here) said for me to buy a bag of hershey minis or kisses and put them in my freezer and have ONE every 3 days or so. The ladies here are so helpful and I appreciate each and every one of you! -Susan

Susan....I couldnt help but post even though we talked in person yesterday about this very same thing. Please be proud of how far u've come in only a short time. I am proud of you and understand the struggles you go thru. I don't know why but when we ban ourselves from having the occassional sugary treat we eventually go wayyyy overboard when we do get our hands on it. I did that so often when I began my lifestyle change that I felt I had no choice but to buy the bag of hershey's kisses freeze those puppies and allow myself one every few days. Sugar free pudding (chocolate) also helps me so now more times than not I find myself with a pudding cup when I get depressed and I add a little whip topping. I know u can do this!! I know u can!!!

I like the baby analogy as well.

Be careful with the hershey kisses or chocolate chips.

Angie...Thanks so much for being proud of me. Yesterday was hard for me not to eat all the sugary things I bought and today was a hard day to. It's so hard for me to limit myself to just one sweet. I'm going to have to buy some kisses and freeze them and just have the will power to only have one. I did exercise today though and I'm proud of myself for that. I had pizza for dinner and I know that's probably not the best thing for me either but will power for me is hard to come by. How do you do it? I should buy pudding too. Thanks so much for responding and reading. Talk to ya later. -Susan

I dont look at myself as being on a diet. I view it as a lifestyle change. I still enjoy pizza and pasta and the occassional candy. Im just very careful about the portions I eat. I also order whole wheat pizza crust and go lite on the cheese. We didn't wake up one day and end up looking like we do. It took us time to get this way and its gonna take us time to get healthy and we are gonna have set backs. Its just how we handle those set backs I think.

Susan,
Just a suggestion that's working so far for me..I've been buying those little Nabisco 100 calorie snacks. They have Oreos, Chips Ahoys and Nutter Butter cookies. They are 100 calories, but they really satisfy that sweet tooth. Also yesterday a friend at work told me about South Beach cookies..they are WONDERFUL! They're also 100 calories for two cookies and they're made with whole grain so there's plenty of fiber in them.

The thing that's helping me most with these cookies is that they are in individual packs. I know that sounds crazy, but I guess it somehow satisfies my psyche that I can eat that whole little pack! They come in boxes with six packs in each box. I take lunch to work with me and throw in a pack for desert. That seems to pacify my sugar monster!

Good luck!
