Let's Move in February!-Challenge

I'm naming this challenge in honor of Angela, who is moving to a new home in February - and if packing and unpacking everything you own isn't a workout, I don't know what is!

I've noticed that a lot of people have posted lately about hating to exercise...for me, the exercise is the easier part of this (the food is what I struggle with)..so I thought I'd try to inspire some love of exercise...

Since there are 28 days in February, I wondered if we could think of 28 different activities that are 'exercise' - either one that you do regularly, or that you'd like to try.

On the post, we'd include the exercise, why we like (or think we'd like) it, and how many calories it burns in a half hour (fitday.com can translate if you don't know).

Then in February, we'd each try something we don't normally do and report on whether we liked it or not.

Anyone want to play?

And I'll go first...

1) Swimming - I love it because it uses both upper and lower body at the same time, and the only thing I hear while I'm doing it is the voice in my own head- great for mind and body. And in a half hour, you burn 250-300 calories

I like this idea ... my contribution ... Dancing ... the fast stuff! Hustle, Electric Slide or Macarena anyone? Nothing like a Polka to get your cardio up.

300 calories per hour ... so hit the clubs ladies and drink club soda and lime all night and you will be on your way to a rocking body!

Thank you for the honor, and I can add two. 1 I enjoy is the scraping paint, cuz I actually enjoy refinishing old stuff, I forgot that joy in the last years but I am finding it again.


Burns 170 in half an hour according to www.caloriesperhour.com


and another, that I can't say is fun, but nonetheless in honor of moving in Feb...packing burns 198 min per half hour. (this at 250 lbs)

Count me in!! For all of us who live where it is nice and cold/white this time of year, I'd like to add shoveling to the list. Yikes, It sure makes me work up a sweat. ;o)

I'm glad you like it - please add something to the list?

It doesn't have to be as creative as some of the ones already suggested - I might have to sign up for snow shoveling before the winter's over, but I'm not looking forward to it! Although I know Mary and Angela will probably think that its a great idea as they claim to almost never have seen snow!

A lot of great things remain to be added!

Great idea SJ


OK mine is a no brainer: exercise bike, just place it infornt of your favorite TV show and keep paddling. I burn around 400 calories in 1/2 an hour (for 220 lbs)
