How do you choose your goal weight?

  • A weight you were once happy with.
  • A weight a chart says would be healthy.
  • Smaller short term goals.
  • Don't set a goal.
  • Other. Please explain...

I chose my goal weight based sorta on what the charts say. It says that at 6'2" I should weight 180 and I think that might be a bit off for my body type. So I added about 20 lbs. and set it at an even 200.

I would like to be 140 cuz that is what the charts say and I know I looked good at that weight but I also know I looked good up to 175 as long as I was active and more muscular so I would also be happy with that scenario, lean and fit 175-180 even though the charts consider that obese for my 5'8 height

I'm shooting for 1/2 pound less than a 24.9 BMI (For my height that's 156.) In the Jorge Cruise 3-hour Diet book that I'm reading it lists a higher range for people over 35. I think the charts are useful guides. I don't need a chart to see how fat I am, and when I'm at a good weight for my body I don't really need a chart to see that I'm fit irrespective of BMIs, scales, and pants' sizes. Annie

I am not a by the chart person, although that was a factor in my decision. THe last time I lost weight I made it down as far 180 and was a size 12, I am guessing that for my body type 150 is going to be plenty small, even though I am only 5'4, I am just shaped different. When I get to 150 I may decide to keep going, we shall see. But for now 150 seems like a good attainable goal.
