I just need to vent about my hubby. I have about as much willpower as can fit in a thimble when it comes to weightloss so ive stressed how much I need his support and help. He's not thin either and needs to lose weight but thats another topic. I ask why he doenst support me so if im in a crazy mood and want pizza he tells me we can find something else - at least make me THINK about whether i really want it or not. Anyone else not getting the support they need at home?

Heather,

I'm sorry that it feels like your DH isn't in your corner. One thing you have to remember is that the bad habits your trying to break took a long time to get to where they are. A lot of times the people we care about don't mean to sabotage us when they lure us off track.

My DH is really supportive...now! He is only slightly above his ideal weight and has never been obese. It took a lot of honesty on both our parts to get to where we are. I found that the best time to talk to him about it was at a totally non-threatening time. (I.E, not at meal time, or just after a meal, or after I've had a bad scale experience, or worse right after one of us has had a hellish day.)

Good luck reaching him!

Hi,

Lately, I'm ignoring all the support at home, so can't really speak to this directly. But I agree with Annie, it's probably not deliberate sabotage... maybe he's just sharing in the willpower shortage, and feels guilty about it. Like, if you aren't good, he doesn't have to feel bad about not being good himself.

I wish you an improved situation with your hubby, but more than that, I wish you the strength to take on weight loss on your own. It can be tough, but you'll find lots of support here, so don't hesitate to rely on the board to help when "home" can't or won't.
You can do this!
