Hey everybody, I know I've been COMPLETELY MIA, but I decided to try the ICU diet and see how that works, lol. Actually, it worked pretty well, down about 50lbs. Unfortunately I am also totatlly weak and can barely function. But I have moved, off Lanai'i and down to SPI, yes I know, another island, I can't help it, I love the water, and I lived here before, and yes, the fiancee came with me, doing most of the work and painting the new house. It is beautiful too, nice waterfront, corner lot, with lots of plants. We also put a treadmill and a resistance maching in the extra bedroom. Oh, and we have a fireplace, it's really cool. The bad part was trying to talk the poor movers into shipping 2 pianos over the ocean, couldn't go on the plane, had to go by boat. So I am going to a doctor regularly for my checkups and physical therapy to get back some of my strength, but other than that, I'm doing pretty good. Talk to you all later.

Charley,

Thank God! I was SO worried about you, it's such a relief to know you're back among the living! The new place sounds fantastic, especially the fireplace. Just remember to take it easy for a while and let the body get back up to speed. So glad you're back on the board...

Charley! I'm so glad to hear that you're doing better! It sounds like you still have a ways to go, but I'm greatly relieved to hear that you're okay! Not exactly the ideal weight loss plan, eh? Take good care of yourself and keep us posted! Annie

Thanks for the support everybody. I was in ICU because of the whole appendix rupturing mess. They didn't clean out all of the infection and it just went completely nuts in my system, I don't recover very well anyway, and I'm too stubborn to go to the doctor unless I think I'm dying, and usually I'm wrong. This time when I finally went back it was by force, and I remember very little about the trip. I had a really really really bad infection that had spread throughout my entire body and I had the fever to match. I was there for almost 2 months, and according to Mark, none of my family even came out. That'll really crush a girl's ego. So I no longer have an appendix, and they kept taking spinal fluid too, considering my intense horror of needles, that was worse than being sick. My asthma and epilepsy just made it worse because they couldn't tell if I was siezing because of the epilepsy or because of the fever, or some other obscure reason. Well, whatever the reason, I'm back, I'm feeling a lot better, even if I am really weak, and I'm ready to kick some butt here in Texas. Oh crap, I'm a Texan again :) There's a whole series of jokes to go with that, but I have far too much good taste to go there right now, well, maybe.

LOL well you didn't lose your sense of humor at least....I have to ask, is your epilepsy normally well controlled by meds?? My bro & sis both have it and neither can seem to be very well controlled by the meds. Being sick can just make is all the worse so I am glad you are finally on the mend. We wondered if something had gone awry when you disappeared again. Wishing you luck in not regaining the weight loss even if it wasn't a great way to lose it, let's hope for it to stay gone.

Not even close to being controlled by meds. I tried a couple, one of which actually was CAUSING siezures, I went from having 1 or 2 a week to having 3 & 4 a day. That really sucked. Before I got sick I was going to try this diet they have been trying, they have had a lot of success with kids, but it's really hard to stick to, and not really healthy. Ketosis, but it's very high fat, lots of butter and basically no veggies, but right now isn't the best time to be messing with my system. So right now I am completely uncontrolled, but right now, I don't really care, I don't have to drive anywhere, everything is walking distance, or a cab is only $4. If your bro & sis want more info on the diet they can go to WebMD or Discovery Health, but it has only really been tried on children. And I STRONGLY recommend against Depakote. Evil, evil drug, and it causes weight gain, so add another evil to that line :)

Well theirs seems to be in much more control than yours. My sister has them regularly but bro only when really stressed. He has the petite mal seizures instead of the full blown grand mal like my sis does

There is a surgery though that a friend of dh's had and his is gone. It is high risk of course since it is dealing with the brain but he took the risk. Sis won't take the risk and bro isn't a candidate for it. May be something for you to research if you are interested though. I couldn't imagine seizures and asthma both. Can't be easy.
