I had been at a steady 302 lbs for the past few weeks. When I weighed myself yesterday I was at 302. Now today I felt fatter than normal for some reason so I weighed myself. I about fell off the scale when It read 310lbs. Now I know that its that time of the month but would a person really gain 8 lbs overnight. I even went to the gym last night and did an hour of cardio and half hour of strength training. What is going on with me???????? I personally think my scale is nothing but junk and that I should toss it in the dumpster. Any ideas?????????!!!!!!!!!!

It could be your scale. Also weighing yourself everyday is not a good thing either as bosy weight does fluctuate. I would not worry too much. I try and weigh myself weekly.

Hi Angie,

I had a similar jump in weight a few weeks ago going up five or six pounds overnight. I think one of the realities that we have to accept is that being significantly overweight our bodies tend to grab onto water. Your TOM, more sodium than you thought, more exercise than usual, slacking on water or some combination can really throw things off kilter. Hard as it is I'm trying to accept fluctuations on the scale and keep my eye on the long-term changes I'm making. Hang in there! Annie 252/233/156

Yes it is possible, ENTIRELY possible for you to gain 8 lbs overnight. It is waterweight and it jumps up quick. Drink plenty of water, and don't freak out yet. IF and that is a BIG IF it stays there for a week, then freak.

Hello:

I am a newbie and I hope you won't mind that I would like to offer some hugs and support your way? I am sorry to hear that your scale is giving you a difficult time,((((HUGS)))). I know that it isn't unusual for me to gain 10 pounds in a week due to water weight right before I have a visitor every month. I am not kidding when I tell you that I bloat up so much from water weight gain, that complete strangers have patted my tummy and asked me when the baby was due. Little did they know that I had my baby seven years ago,and what they are patting is nothing but water weight gain. I just wanted to offer you lots of love and support ((((HUGS))))) Snuggle Bunnie 99 P.S.I am sorry that I misspelled my name earlier my name does read Snuggle Bunnie 99,not Snuggle Bunny 99,sorry for my typing error.

And one more testimony from me, yes it's very possible and don't freak out just yet. I weigh myself daily and sometimes I see huge changes. If you plan to continue to weigh yourself daily, prepare yourself for some fluctuations. Wait until AF has left and weigh again.
