I'm considering beginning to exercise first thing in the morning...my evenings are so packed! For those of you who do so, or have in the past, do you begin exercising within minutes of waking, or do you get up extra early to give your body a little time to wake up? I know this sounds like a strange question, but I am curious as to how a person goes about doing this without injury or making pain worse.

I get up about 25 mins before I have to be at the gym to meet my trainer. I eat something like a piece of toast and a hard boiled egg no yok, grab my waterbottle and go. If I get up to much earlier then that, then I would find an excuse as not to workout, that is why afternoon and nighttime does not work for me, there is always something else I can talk myself into instead of working out. This was I do not give my self the chance to.

Good luck with it :)

If I don't get my exercise in first thing it's extra hard for me to do it later in the day. I'll put out clothes the night before and just slip right into them. Most workout DVDs have a warm-up/stretch-out component to them so it helps me ease into it if that's what I'm doing. If I'm using my treadmill or Nordic track I stretch out first and start out slowly. If I'm doing weight training I do the cardio struff first. Of course, I'm a morning person so once I'm up, I'm up and don't need extra time to get going. Good luck! Annie

I am a morning person so i hop out of bed, put on my pedometer and then start by walking around a few minutes then start my dvd or tape. they all seem to have warm up and cool downs. I do it on an empty stomach. food with exercise does me in. If I let it go til later in the day or after work it just doesn't happen.

I tried to exercise first thing in the morning and kept at it for a few weeks. I would wake up, and just start exercising imediatly. Can't eat before exercising because it makes me want to throw up. I would start by a slow warm up that would take around 5 minutes.

For the record, I no longer exercise in the morning because I have a crazy morning schedule.. it is easier for me to exercise late in the evening.
