Mary,
What a nice surprise this was! Thanks for noticing. I am feeling really in control right now and that is helping a lot.

Thanks Angela-we are so lucky to have Mary as our CL - and each other of course!

In another post you said you didn't know what I thought 'junk' was, and I thought I'd answer that here too...For me junk is when I have chocolate, then I get some fritos, then I have three cookies, then I get some crackers and cheese, then I have ice cream, then I have....it isn't that I think any one of them is 'junk' its when I get into the string of eat...eat...eat...I find that if I am eating food that is healthy, I don't get into the binge mode, but if I start down that path of 'junk', I keep on it until I recognize it and stop. I love to read, and one thing I realized early on was that eating and reading were linked for me - that as soon as I settle with a book, I start wanting things to munch on. For a while I didn't read much for pleasure, then only in places where I couldn't get at food (on airplanes, at the pool). Now I can usually recognize it and either plan fruit or something or just not eat-or stop reading...

I would never give up eating the food I love - and I love a lot of it. I'm just working on not eating it unless I really mean to...enjoying 'treats', not making them 'junk - hope this makes sense.

And, in your 'Curiousity post', you said that I was amazing- thank you...what I mostly am is a lot older than most of you - I've reached the point in my life where I can put myself first, and I've learned to do that...you will all get to this point too...for now, most people who post here have young families to nurture and that takes so much energy, I think there isn't a lot left over for you to focus on you. That is one reason why I am so impressed and proud of everyone for the efforts they make for themselves and to support each other here.

Long post-sometimes I do go on and on...

You go on an on as much as you like, you have a lot of wisdome to give and I for one greatly appreciate this. I mean 48 months is a lot of learning about this, and what you are doing is working whether it is slowly or not. After all they do say that the turtle will win the race right??

Yes I completely understand what you mean now by "junk" I find myself doing the same thing during PMS mode, I am in constant hunger mode, I mean my stomach literally growls for food, but the bad thing is most of the time what I am craving is chocolate and salt so I tend to go for the things you described. AND reading......OMG I completely agree, I do the same thing.

SJ, I'm going to insist that you accept the "amazing" label and not pass it off as a function of your age. Certainly your maturity and educated perspective are part and parcel to your success, but life experience doesn't always afford people the wisdom and clarity that you possess. (I know lots of people more senior than you with the insights of an adolescent.) I'm not asking you to get cocky, but to celebrate the tremendous qualities about yourself that so many of us admire.

Congratulations on your latest milestone!

Annie,
I am accepting your (and Angela's) compliment and saying 'Thank You'.

It is not possible for me to tell you what an awful day today was (nothing big life changing, all survivable, just a lot of confidence undermining cr*p) but to find this when I logged on - it could not have been better timed.

Thank you so much.

You two are embaressing me.. and you're guilting me into a confession.. I am here for purely selfish reasons, if I didn't have to check in regularly, I would've quit a long time ago. I love reading all your posts and hearing about all your success and also about the strugles (cuz it makes me feel I'm not alone). I am glad I'm helping anyone because frankly you've all helped me out so much.
