I'm struggling with wanting to rid myself of some dated clothes and yet reluctant to spend a ton of money on clothing right now. What are some things that you're wearing right now that really "work" for you? Annie

sorry, but i don't have many idea's.... because i "hate" the "bootleg cut" pants that i see everyone wearing.. I luckily kept alot of my XL size knit pants and capris so I'll be wearging them until they wear out or fall off of me.. and I've been wearing my size 3x tunic t-shirts and polo shirt. pretty boring but I'm too cheap to buy new stuff.

I am not sure what part of the country you are in, but if you have a Gabriel Brothers or Rugged Warehouse around you, hit them up! They have clothes from big name retailers at much lower prices. Also Value City and Burlington CoatFactory. These places usually have a nice plus size selection.

Annie,
I say Toss those too big, out of style clothes!

Two suggestions - Thrift shops/Goodwill...previously worn, maybe by someone else on a journey like ours...

Or buy yourself a couple pairs of black/brown/khaki pants, then at some place like K-Mart buy some not too expensive t-shirts in bright colors-then get some coordinating short sleeve shirts that don't quite button to wear open like a little jacket. When you lose more weight, the T-shirts will be a little worn out and can be used for workout clothes, sleepwear, etc, and the short-sleeved blouses will button and be good for the next size. And you can give the black pants to Thrift shop/goodwill for someone else on this journey...

It's hard to buy stuff you hope won't fit for long, but if you buy cheap, you can look good for a short time and then just move on...I love love love clothes but I like variety-I was never that 'one Chanel suit will last and last' type. I always figured I'd manage to spill spaghetti sauce on it even if I stayed whatever size it was...I'd rather have ten diferent things that weren't that expensive than one 'quality' piece-flying totally in the face of fashion mavens...

Let's go shopping!

Well, I love shopping clearance rack, so I will sometimes buy a few tops/pants that are cute/trendy if I can get them cheap enough at my current size, so that way I don't feel bad for "wasting" the money.

Most of the time I am wearing jeans and a cute top, although lately I rarely get out of my pjs. I've been kind of depressed since I lost my job.

Sorry to hear that you're struggling right now :(. I totally understand how that can be. I've been in and out of treatment for depression since the age of 15. I have good times, and then I have bad times.

So, from my experience, one of the best ways for me to boost my mood is to get up and get ready for the day, even if I have nowhere to go. When I think I look put together I feel more put together and feel like I can do the random things that need to get done. On those days when I'm really not feeling it I even gussy up the hair and makeup a little to help feel better about myself. Even if I'm picking up around the house and going to the grocery store, it helps me feel like I've got it together, even when the odds are against me.

Just a suggestion. :) Hope things look up for you!

Peace

I have a hard time getting dressed during the week because I'm not going anywhere and I have a really weird sleep schedule. I usually stay up all night and go to sleep in the morning, and since the rest of the house is sleeping it makes it hard to do a whole lot cause I'm scared of waking them up.
