Hey everyone,
I used to post more often during this past summer and over the winter break but school has kept me very busy. It was nice getting to catch up with many of you via your posts. I was wondering how many of you feel about weighing yourself every day? I have packed on about 20 pounds since the start of the semester, and feel that when I step on the scale everyday it is an unconscious reminder to watch what I eat. I have never done this before, but I am feeling a little discouraged and want something simple to make me accountable for the food I eat. Any thoughts, thanks in advance.~paige

Hi Paige,

Welcome back! I do weigh myself every day, but only count one day a week as my official weigh-in. I find it's easy for me to deny that I've been eating more or eating badly and skipping exercise, but once I see the scale creep back up it's undeniable. I usually allow myself a couple of pounds leeway, because I do tend to fluctuate. More than that though and I know I'm off track. Good luck getting things back under control! Today marks my official "starting over" poing. (Yet again. LOL)

Hope to see you around!

That's me.. a daily weigher. If I don't weigh for too long, I tend to eat really bad. You know, if I don't see the damage then it's not happening (talking about denial LOL).. so yeah daily weighing really works for me

That said, it's not for everybody.. for

I weigh myself every day for the reason you stated...it's a reminder to stick with what I'm doing.

I used to weigh everyday, but found that as the numbers went up and down and up and down, it drove me to not care so much. I am one of those who can bloat at the drop of a dime and gain 10 lbs overnight which was really discouraging. I have been only weighing the first of the month for weigh in and sneaking on sometimes during the month but trying not to let those numbers get to me anymore. My goal this time around is more to get healthy than to lose weight. If I lose inches I will be happy and am focusing more on that than the scale.

I like to weigh myself everyday too. It really helps me realize if I'm not doing enough and also helps me know what combination exercise-wise is working for me.

I completely agree with the everyday weighing. Ever since I started weighing in everyday, I've lost more weight and I'm more careful once it's creeping a little up.

But if you are going to discouraged by weight gain, don't do it.

Paige,
I weigh every day, but I expect my weight to vary as much as five pounds from the day before.

When it's up, I say 'I need to work harder today'. When its down, I say 'I need to keep working hard'

I only 'count' Friday, but I just like to know where I'm at every day.

But only you know if that is what you need.
