Dreyer's is advertising a new type of lower-fat ice cream during American Idol this year.

I guess if they tell you you can have a smaller portion and twice the satisfaction they would sell less product. I also hate ads that tell you to overindulge because you "deserve it." Gimme a break! Annie

Yes, marketing at it's finest :( I do appreciate the new slow churned items ... but not to have more! To have a little treat with less bad bang. Sad that they are promoting such an unhealthy message ... have to consider that in my buying decisions.

Exactly! Eat more of the lower fat and you may end up consuming more calories than the regular stuff.

I also agree with Annie, the "indulge cuz you deserve it" campaings get on my nerves

That really is a stupid idea! I like the ice cream, but the commercials make me not want to buy it.

definately.. that's why if I'm going to have ice cream/frozen custard.. i'd rather have a regular size serving of the reall stuff than an oversize serving of the low fat/sugar free stuff.. the regular stuff tastes better and makes me feel "naughty" so I know i have to stop at 1 serving

Yea, no sh*t! You deserve what? To get fat? I don't feel I deserve to get fat, I feel I deserve to get thin healthy. "Because I'm worth it!" Like all the chocolate commercials making it look so glamouras and sensual to eat a big piece of chocolate or chocolate cake. AS IF! Oh, it's so sentual to get fat so no man wants you. How misleading is THAT?

You deserve an unhealthy meal if you eat fast food, but you never see a fat person in a food ad, huh? Ever see the Slimfast ad with the size 14 or so body dance across the screen and then suddenly there's a really skinny woman wiggling around? Hmm. They can't even do a real before and after!

They're just using manipulation tactics to hock their seedy wares. I've been on boycott of all ice cream since December, and so far, so good. I've replaced it with yogurt I freeze in popsicle thingies, or "frozen yogurt", if you will :P

I think anybody who is as concerned about healthy eating as all of us are WON'T take that ad seriously. We're savvy enough to know that overindulging = BAD!!!
