Hi Everyone,
I am new to the board and would like to introduce myself. My name is Kim I am 31 years young. I am a mother of 3 (11yr, 10yr, 6yr) and remarried in 2005. When I married my husband in June 2005 I weighed 145lbs. Well alot has changed since then. We moved closer to my family and the weight just started adding up. I now weigh 263! I have been to the doctor and had everything tested - I though no way there has to be something wrong with me. Nope just cant put the fork down LOL. I was recently diagnosed with depression but who wouldnt be depressed putting on that much weight. I went from being active to sitting on my bottom watching tv. I really need the motivation, well actually someone to light a fire under me.
Kim

Hi Kim,
Welcome to the board! I know that motivation is hard to find, but I think you'll find it a little easier being part of our community. Now that you've seen the doctor have you made any decisions about a food and exercise plan? Are you getting help with your depression? Looking forward to having you with us! Annie 252/232/156
One day at a time! That's the best way to do it. Just take it one moment at a time and make TINY changes at first and once you are comfortable with those, add a little.
I am quite a bit heavier than you, but I've lost 13 Lbs so far, just taking it day by day. Start slow, by doing situps and leg lifts at home and then add walks. Drink your water and make small changes to your diet.
We are behind you!!!! You need help, you let us know!
I started taking something for the depression which seems to be helping. I have noticed it also has helped with my eating. I think I was turing to food everytime I was down. My family eats for every occasion LOL! I just need a place to be accountable, some place I can check in and say if I am staying on task. My doctor said that I could see a nutrionist but I do not have health insurance so I would like to give it a go myself first. I know what to eat and what not to eat I just need the motivation to change.

welcome aboard and I wish you the most luck!! I more than understand the whole no insurance thing as I just got insurance in Dec for the first time in almost 8 years. It is rough not being able to get the treatments you need when you need them.
Good Luck!!!
Angela
I hear you. I probably should be on something for depression, (no insurance here either) so getting healthier has been my attempt to make myself feel better. Hey it at least gets me out of the house. ;-) I give a big thumbs up to the baby steps approach! I would never have made it this far (and I have only been working on this...this time around for 3 months!) if I had tried to make all the changes at once. I would have thrown in the towel weeks ago! I also give a big thumbs up for being here! I think there is no one who can understand what it is like to loose such a large amount of weight like someone who has been there. (is there) So welcome aboard. I've got the matches, lets light that fire!!

hi
Motivation, hard word to live up to ! I had no motivation for years, I even finally checked out. I stopped doing everthing. I was couch bound soon to be house bound! I should be around 200 but found myself at almost 400. There was alot of things that finally did it. The movie Shawshank Redemption had a favorite line " Get busy living or get busy dying" That stuck in my mind for years was even my MSN Saying. But i was busy Dying It finally took a few other things. Like How many 80yearolds do you see at 400 lbs?
( I want to be part of my grand kids lives!) My 21 year old son came to me in tears asking me to take care! Water off a ducks back! All my family and freinds were concerned. I watched Intervention one night and it just hit home! It was the same, all the family and freinds were trying so hard to get me to see how bad I had gotten. I just didn't want to acknowledge the problem! Then a friend saw me asked if she could come over and help with a plan. She even entered me in a weght loss challenge! She took a pic and when I saw that I new the perfect storm had arived!I couln't beleive that was me in the picture!
Now I'M BUSY LIVING !I haven't flt this good in a decade I have lost almost 40 lbs since March 10 and I feel I can lose a 100 or so by june 30 and win the money and a trip to Vegas. I'm not tired during the day and have stopped drinking coffee. I have energy to burn and go on regular walks with our new dog. I have so many people supporting me it's crazy! 3 news papers and a tv station have all done stories and the whole communty is behind me. Now that's motivation to win the money and the trip ! So it was me finally deciding to get busy living that has given me my motivation, plus the ease of the plan I'm on.
