Hi all,

Ok. So I figure that I would measure the offensive areas, to give me a starting point. I guess if the weight does not come off easily, maybe the inches will give me some motivation. Bare in mind that I have not measured myself since I was 20 years old. Oh My G@D! It was beyond depressing, especially since I remember what those measurements were. Yuck. I have many inches to go. Good motivation, I guess.
Burn all tape measures and bury all scales ;)

You reminded me, I didn't take my April measurments. I need to see if I lost any inches.

Actually I think "measuring up" is a great idea. For some people, you can see losses in inches without seeing anything on the scale and this can be encouraging.

Use this as motivation.. stick to your plan and those numbers will soon shrink

I am one that will see inches loss but no movement on the scale, it is very motivating. GOOD LUCK

I know the feeling.. back in the early 90's i was around 180-200 lbs and i have no idea what my measurement were.. but i know they were ALOT less than what they are now.

I 1st took my measurement on 5/10/06 i was 60 53 62 and 312 lbs
now about a year later. I am 53-46-57 and 262 lbs

i personally only measure every 3-6 months, mainly cause i forget to do it.

Tape measure and scales aren't the enemy, fat and inches are. Don't burn scales, burn calories!!! We'll make it together. Go Team!

It is like having a love hate relationship with 2 friends. When the scale is "being mean" and not telling you want to hear, turn to the tape measure to see if it has nicer things to say! ;-)

Kidding aside, my problem is I am weighing too often again. I had been doing better, but am all of a sudden on the scale everytime I go into the bathroom. And even though I know full well that at the end of the day with day clothes on I can weigh up to 5 lbs heavier than I do in the am wearing pj's, it doesn't stop me. I think I need to put it away and bring it out for weigh day only! I try to get a monthly reading for measurements with the tape measure, but often forget! the tape Is a great way to see the progress in numbers, even when the weight on the scale may be the same.

One of the toughest parts is remembering to do all the things you say you will, measurements, journalling, etc. What I did to remember to measure myself AND keep myself motivated was to build a motivational bulliten board and hang it on the wall of my bedroom. I got a bunch of pushpins and made a "GET MOTIVATED!!" sign for the top of it. I posted a picture of myself when I was 140lbs, a picture of myself now, and found a couple pictures online of women who have to weigh 1000lbs. I also found this cute clipart thing of a skinny woman stepping out of a heavy woman's clothes, and tacked up a picture of my wedding dress. Finally, I posted a chart of my weight and measurements, and a tapemeasure with a twist-tie around it. That way, I keep track of everything in one convenient centre, and I always measure myself with the same tape. Maybe a similar activity could help you ladies! (and gentlemen too!!!)
