My fiance's grandma!!! She's the sweetest little 83 year old you could ever want to meet, and every time I go there, she says "you're looking so much thinner! Here, have a butter tart". Now, I don't need to tell you that I am not, in fact, looking so much thinner. I gained back the 15lbs I lost at the beginning of the year and then some (of which, I've already lost 6lbs, but nonetheless). It's so hard to say no to this lady! Short of "put down the biscuts, grandma", all i can say is "no, thank you, I'm watching my calories". She waves her hand and scoffs and says "oh, go on. have a cookie or a bowl of ice cream or a peice of pie". I don't know what feels worse, saying no to an old lady, or that I actually want the pie!!!

That's really tough.. specially when you want what's being offered LOL

I feel super guilty when I turn anyone down. Food or otherwise. But I've been slowly learning along the years to get rid of the guilt and just say "No". Sometimes it's not that big of a deal with the other person in other situations, but when it comes to food,

It is soo hard to tell "little old ladies" no..
My 90 year old grandma is the same way.. When i was PG and had gestational diabetes I got into the habit of telling her "I can't cause I have to watch my sugar/carb intake" and now she doesn't ask as much.
(the worst part is that she's got alzheimers so she'll ask over and over and over again, LOL)

Sara,
If she has alzheimer's, maybe you could tell her you already had some and it was delicious?

Not to make light of this - I had a beloved uncle who was in the early stages of alzheimer's - I got a promotion at work and every time I talked to him for the next few months, he told me how proud he was of me for it - each time as if it was for the first time, but it was so obvious that he was speaking from his heart that it was really touching. We were very sad to lose him to cancer, but not sad that we didn't lose him entirely to alzheimers first...its a hard condition to deal with...

By the way, I was noticing how close you are to a 100 pound loss-way to go!
