hey all ....it's been awhile since i've posted but thought i'd write a lil something and say hi :)
i've been trying to watch what i eat and trying to walk more but it's not working much, because of school and my daughter ... it's toooo hard to work in some exercise and try to eat healthy while on the run 24/7
BUT ... summer break is here and i'm determined to lose at least 30+ pounds before August!!

Hi and welcome back!

Glad to see you posting again!!
I know how cliche this sounds, but the exercise that most helps me is the one that I can actually do. I know that it's lovely to be able to have a 30-minute intense cardio session and a couple of strength training sessions a week, but for me I can't do that. Maybe for a week? two? Then I'll start skipping and fall out of it altogether.
What works for me is to use the stationary bike in my livingroom, and when I can fit
I agree with Mary that the best exercise is the one you'll do. But to find that, you might need to try a few things. Here is a suggestion-what if you committed to try a new type of exercise each week all summer-maybe three times a week?
For example, if there are gyms in your area, many of them have' tryout' specials and will let you use the gym for a wek to see if you like it. That could give you access to equipment you don't have. Or ask all of the people you know-'do you have a trwadmill? An Eliptical machine? A Stationary bike? I'm thinking of getting one, but I'd like to try it a few times first' or maybe just tell them you are trying to vary your routine. Your library might have exercise videos you can borrow(so might your friends) Or you can rent from netflix or blockbuster. My cable On Demand has exercise videos too, and they're free.
Get a notebook, make a plan for the weeek, then write down how you felt about what you did.
Walking is a good start, and weights are not that expensive-I love mine, and you can get in a pretty good routine in 20-40 minutes. You can find directions on line, or I'd be happy to share some of my favorites if you are interested.
And there is swimming, biking, hiking, jumping rope, hula hoop, shooting hoops...think back to what you might have liked to do as a child and see how you can make it work for you.
Exercise does not have to be a chore-and I am speaking as someone who was a 'lie on the beach with a book' girl for all my life-now the gym is my favorite place to be, and I don't feel right on the days when I do nothing. Embrace this opportunity!
Best wishes on your journey
