Update on my apointment yesterday, according to the doctor's scale I am down 3lbs to 209.5 lbs. The thing is, I'm not too happy about this. Although I should be. Don't get me wrong I'm really pleased with this and somehow this is too good to be true. But the thing that's really bugging me is that my bathroom scale puts me at around 215lbs.. that's

Oh Mary, Bless your heart. Which scale was the last that you recorded your weight on??

I agree that is a HUGE difference in numbers. I mean you would think a couple pounds, okay we can see that but 6 lbs is a big difference & I would be wondering which was right as well. OF course I would want to use the lower number too.....LOL

I would say record by the scale you have been recording by but

Okay this is gonna sound crazy but I say log both weights. Put in ()the weight the doctors scale said then when you go and visit the doctor you can see what the change is. Besides we all work so hard to see the lowest numbers possible that seeing both numbers couldn't hurt!!!!

if i remember correctly you, on your home scale you weigh in "in your birthay suit" ..
i assume at the dr you had clothes on right??
did you take you wieght on your home scale immediatly before or after your Dr. appt, wearing the same clothes??

I know that Today i weighed 259 at home w/o any clothes on.. and today at work, i weighed in w/ my clothes on but no shoes and i was about 265... and i didn't eat or drink anything between the 2 weigh in's...that's 5 pounds..

I personally would stick with the weight on the scale that you normall use...
plus the scale at the dr was it a digital one or one of the old fashioned ones that need to be calibrated every now and then.. cause sometimes they are off. they were at my dr's office.. i had them weight me on both scales and they each read a different #

Hmmm...did you weigh yourself on your scale and your doctor's the 1st day you started your diet? If so, how off was it then? You know, I have noticed that depending on where I put my scale on my bathroom floor my "weight" can vary A LOT! It can go up or down between 5 and 10 lbs...so make sure when you weigh yourself your scale is always in the same spot. Maybe try and move it around until you get about the same weight as the doctor's scale and then try and keep it there. If you can't then mark the spot so you can put it back next time you want to weigh yourself. Also, chances are your doc's scale is more accurate than yours. I wouldn't think it's because he's trying to make it look like his method works. Eventually someone would catch on to what he was doing if he was fixing the scale. Have you measured yourself? That's a good way to gauge changes in your body also. Sometimes when we are dieting and working out there will be times when the scale isnt showing any progress but most likely we're losing inches and that feels pretty great too!
I would really recommend only weighing yourself once a week and if you're getting weighed at the doc I would put your home scale away!
Keep your chin up! I'm sure you're doing just fine!! :)

Hey,

You are not crazy! The scale at doctors offices tend to be the most accurate in terms of your weight, at least that is what many friends (who are physicians)tell me. I wonder what kind of scale you use at home? I find that a scale with an electronic digital reading tends to be the closest to the numbers at the doctors office. If you have a older style scale, does the dial rest on zero as it should? Is it resting on flat and level surface?

If I am ever doubting whether my scale is working properly, I go to a store where there is a wide variety of scales sold. Pick out a few models, kick off my sandals and step on. I tend to go with the one that is closest to the number at the doctor's office. It is very frustrating as your weight should be a relatively "exact" number, but very rarely is!

It might just be nice to just keep the difference in mind an let it boost your mood on those bad days knowing that you are REALLY 5 pounds lighter (would brighten my mood in a heart beat)!
