Skinny is in the eye of the beholder

On a serious note, I've been having great success on my eating plan and exercise program, from 330 to 269 since mid January 2007. It's been a lot of hard work and I have a lot more ahead of me, but it's nice to see the effort is paying off. I stay focused and motivated because I only look at this lifestyle change as one-day-at-a-time. Now that I've lost a few pounds, I guess physically it is becoming more noticeable. On a silly note, I wanted to share a rather quirky observation.

A few of the chubbier women at work are constantly telling me how "skinny" I
am getting. Have you noticed that we "fatties" think someone who weighs
over 200 pounds but less than 300 pounds looks skinny to us (ha ha ha). Is
it any wonder that being so "hot" we find it hard to diet! (ha). I love these people and hope they never-ever get new prescriptions for their glasses.

Have a great week and remember most of us put on the excess pounds 1 at a time and that's probably how we will take them off. I find this is a good thing to remember on weigh-in day.

I am fortunate, too. My husband loves me no matter what size I am. BUT I want to be healthy, and do fun things together for the next 50 years with him. Being seriously obese sort of restricts that. I mean if there is a weight limit on a ride at an amusement park, we can't do it together. Trips are less fun when the airplane seat squashes me. Chronic diseases, although not limited to fatties, are definitely more of a problem for us severely obese people. I started late in my commitment to get healthy, but luckily God blessed me with great genes and I don't have any serious health problems, and I have wised up before the "gene" protection gave out. As healthy weight people, we will continue to be hot but we are going to "rock" and not be short of breath (ha).

I totally agree.. my top weight was about 2 yrs ago, i was 342.. i'm now 259.. and people are just starting to notice the change.. ITS ABOUT TIME>>>>

Looking skinny is relative to how much you weigh... At 342 lbs... just getting at 300 was skinny, then at 300 lbs 250 looks skinny etc etc...

someone had a great quote on their siggy (can't remember who) but it said:

"I'm just trying to get to the weight I was when I thought I was fat".

On of my husbands friends said the other day to me.. ya know if you keep losing weight like this, we won't be able to see you when you stand sideways.. i was like "are you blind" but when you comare my body now to what i was 2 years ago.. there is a huge difference....

I was talking to DH about my weight, and he said.. "just don't get too skinny. I like my woman with meat on her bones"... I told him.. "Oh don't worry, once the fat is gone there will be plenty left"

Sharon,

Isn't it great to be around supportive people, especially with so many women willing to cut everyone else down so they'll feel better?
