I work in a kitchen...

Yes, I have the world's worst job for someone on a diet. I don't directly cook, I just do all of the baking of the cookies, cakes, brownies, etc. There's food around all day, and anything I think I want I can have, no questions. I seem to suck at not giving into temptation, and it's driving me insane. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting through this?

That is a tough situation to be in and I sympathize. From my experience, if I feel full I tend to eat less (duh!). Someone once told me a low calorie and quick way to fake that feeling of fullness. It works best if you tend to drink a lot water. You take a 1 liter bottle of water, and take a few large gulps out of it. Take 3 tablespoons of plain unsweetened, unflavored oatmeal and add it to the water. Drink the water as you normally would throughout the day, you can keep extra oatmeal around for whenever you refill the bottle. Oatmeal is low in calories, and drinking the water and oatmeal will keep you relatively full. The advantage to this is that you can drink all day without taking a break from work and preparing food for yourself. I used to do it when I was in school and had a full day of classes, it worked well for me. As a side note, make sure that the oatmeal is unflavored, no sugar, no apple cinnamon or maple sugar varieties. The sugar or powdered flavoring they use give the water a funny taste and add to the calories.

Being around food all day YIKES!! Let's see.. water water water.. fill a bottle of water and keep sipping on it all day. I do this at work & at home and it curbs my appetite. You can also try some exotic herbal drinks.. that usually works for me too and there are some lovely varieties out there (and they count towords your water goal, so double benefit).

You can also have some snacks available to munch on all day.. maybe a bag of
