Describe your plan for getting healthy-I work our every day. Walk (I live in the cty/have no car) 40-80 minutes per day. Gym five days a week-twice with a trainer doing weights after a 10-20 minute cardio workout, once swimming, once a pilates class, once 30 minute of cardio/20 minutes of weights. On no gym days, on one day I do gentle strething, the other usually some form of weights. I do some kind of ab exercise every day for at least 10 minutes. For cardio, I usually do a mix of bike and stairmaster. For eating, I am currently eating on a high protein plan where I eat every 2-3 hours, and I supplement my food with powdered protein. I don't eat anything with sugar after 6:00, and I don't eat anything from supper(around 8:00) until bedtime (around 11:00) Then I have a bowl of cheerios. I am trying to prepare about three quarters of my lunches/dinner myself to have control of what goes in the food. I journal my food here, and I am a lucky person who really likes water, so I drink at least 64 ounces each day. And I praise and reward myself all the time...
And it took me four years to build up to this, adding one small change a month until I got to this point-and I'm not done yet.

The exercise part I have no problem with, it's the food thing I need to improve upon. On a good note, I have weaned myself off of soda. Yay for small victories!!

Name: Cathy
Age: 42
Location: New England
Family: never married but in a serious relationship with a totally awesome Christian gentleman who loves me regardless of my weight and health issues (includes rheumatoid arthritis). He totally supports me in whatever I do. He's making some diet changes himself so can somewhat understand.
Weight: I am morbidly obese, at least twice as much as boyfriend
FWIW I am not trying to lose weight for my boyfriend but for ME.
Describe your plan for getting healthy: I have started to eat healthier: eaeting more fruits and vegetables. I actually came to IVillage to start a food diary blog which I update periodically during the day. Right now it is not completely about what I eat so much as about what I do NOT eat. I am not going to make changes all at once. In time I plan to add exercise but have to be careful not to overdo it. I need to develop my own program that I will be able to stick to long term because of the length of time it will take.

Nice to meet you all.

Family- Been married two years, 7 week old Caden

Start weight/current weight/goal weight-288/281/160

Describe your plan for getting healthy- So far I am on the low-carb diet, it's working well for me lost about a pound a day this week. I just started so I know I won't keep losing a pound a day, but it sure made me feel good being off to a good start. I have been working outside a lot this week for exercise. I have been so busy with the baby it's hard to find time to exercise. I use all my time away from baby keeping the house up. I don't know how long I will stay on the low-carb but I was using it to start with because I know I can lose the weight at a steady pace without feeling hungry.
