I guess it it is time to rethink my plan

Let me start by saying this is coming from me and not my dr. BUT, my bp has been elevated everytime it has been checked in the last couple months. Then yesterday I got so sick to my stomach and felt so funny that I had to go home. My head was about to explode. Well the dr checked my urine again to see if the UTI was gone, and checked my temp but that was all they checked as they just watned to see if I could discontinue my meds which they did tell me to do. Well I wen to the store to get Blade some more pull ups and they have a BP machine there so I checked it......166/94?? WHAT??? No way.....yea way that is what it said. Mind you these machines isnt' 100% accurate but as of how I was feeling I was inclined to believe it as it explaine the WHOLE kit & kiboodle of systems I had. So now what you may say?? Meds?? Well considering EVERY time the dr has seen it was up (borderline not that high) it could be attributed to meds, well this time it could be attributed to meds SO, I am going to stay med free except for my reflux and allergy meds til the 28th come hell or high water & I am going to keep a check on my bp and record it, then if it is still up......I am going in to discuss this with the dr on the 28th (if they are open since it is technically a holiday).
So anyways....looks like I need to change my way of thinking and change up my plans a bit more at any rate cuz it really don't need to jump this high PEROID. Geez I was hoping to bypass that problem all toghether but looks like I have went from being on the low side of the BP problem to being on the high side of it. SO how do I make myself give up my salt when food tastes so bland without it? How do I cut back on sodium?? I mean I am talking me, the person who pours so much salt on my food that people are in shock. So somehow I have to find the willpower to cut back. Slowly but surely.
SO I guess it is time to go back to a full fledge DIET (yuck I hate that word). But I have to do something as I don't want to be on meds the rest of my life, so starting today i am going to watch my sodium levels. I have read that you aren't supposed to have over 3000 but 2400 is best so for now I am shooting for 3000 and working my way down from there over the next few months.
I said it before and I will say it again, I can't win!! LOL I am trying really hard NOT to let this get me down but it is hard, very hard. So I guess

You must have been so alarmed when the machine gave you that reading!

Annie, he told me to quit taking the meds yesterday. Said the infection was gone and to discontinue the meds in case that is what was making me so sick. SO the only meds I am taking right now is zyrtec and prilosec.

Maybe once they are completely out of your system you'll start feeling normal again!

Yikes! Both you & Annie are talking about how high this reading is, and all I can think about is that's what my reading is when I feel "slightly high".. last time I measured it was on Easter and it gave me 160/95. (FYI, my full blown high is when I hit 230/130 usually happens a lot when I'm pregnant). I think I'll go home and check again.

Angela, hang in there.. you can get it down. Remember that many of the high sodium comes from the packaged food, so cut back on that and you'll get your numbers down.

Thanks Mary, I guess I just never realized how much sodium was in the prepackaged foods i was buying, then majority of the time I am adding salt to that. Dh has been telling me for years, then mom & dad before them that I need to lay off the salt, but for me, my BP would bottom out and I would pass out every time I stood up in grade school, & Jr. High so I never worried bout High BP. Now I guess the tables are turning on me.

My MIL has that.. the sudden drops & raises in bp. It was diagnosed to be due to high stress & anxiety. She's on bp medication and only gets the drops when she's stressed out.
