Hi y'all,
Well, another day, another chance to continue on our way to being healthy! I am looking at today as a new beginning! I am logging everything..my food choices, my exercise, my steps...I try to do a minimum of 10,000 a day. I feel that the boards are helping me to stay focused on my goal. I want to reach 145 lbs by 12/12/07. My BMI has gone from 56 to 40. My cholesterol has gone from 239 to 173. I have lost 100 pounds and so far a total of 70 inches. I feel GREAT today, but I am taking it 1 day at a time!
How are you guys doing? What are some of your tricks/successes.....?Do you log or journal? How much are you exercising? What programs are you following? How many calories? Let's get to GOAL!

Dear Lonestar Madge,
I understand completely where you are at...that was me 17 months ago. I weighed 330 pounds. I could not tie my sneaks without having to stop fro a breath. I had to use a seatbelt extention on planes. My ankles, hips and knees were swollen and painful. I had to have the GB surgery because for the past 20 years no other program had worked for me (Weight Watchers numerous times, Jenny Craig, NutriSystem, HMR, Curves' program,Physician's Weight Loss.....) My doctor felt that something drastic had to be done! I had the surgery on Dec. 12, 2005. I lost 95 pounds in 7 months! Real quick! I have gone from a size 3X/4X to a size 14. I can use L & XL. My show size has gone down too. I have lost 70" so far. 7" just around my knee. I feel great! It is not easy! I ended up in a plateau until 3 days ago. I feel that feeling of keeping your eye on the tiger....the prize....the goal....144 pounds. I want to reach my goal by Dec. 12, 2007...2 years after my surgery. I am trying to stay focused.
I will tell you that People magazine is coming out with an article about several women that have lost over 100 pounds without surgery. BUY IT! make copies and make yourself some motivational posters. I have posters on my fridge and my pantry door.
Start one day at a time...one pound at a time...Journal your food. Write down everything and count calories. Did you say that you weigh around 300??? Start at 1500-1700 calories. You must also exercise everyday. Walking is the easiest and fastest way to go. Keep track of your exercise too. Aim for 30 minutes a day...but do as much as possible. Buy a good pedometer...Sport's Authority has a good one for around $24. Good luck and set small mini goals.

My exercise will either be walking or the stationary bike. I don't have time to go to a gym or any kind of classes. Besides, I love both types of exercise and I can always up the speed, resistance, etc. Sticking with it will be the key issue though.
Hi,
The stationary bike & walking are both excellent forms of exercise. I do both! Have you seen the People magazine with the women that have lost over 100 pounds? I especially like the one that is 5'6" and lost 120 pounds. She is now at 140 pounds......WOW! It can be done! We will do it! Good luck! Keep me posted on your progress.....Chart it if you must to have a visual of your workouts.

Charting my workouts.. I haven't thought about that before. Strange since I'm such a charting & tracking junkie LOL. I haven't seen People magazine, I don't live in the US and besides I don't really read magazines.. I'm an online girl LOL.. I"ll go see if I can find the article online
Keep up the good work Norma
Hi,
Where do you live? I live in Arizona. As of today, I have lost 101 lbs. YEAH! I chart EVERYTHING. I have a diet notebook & an exercise log. I also have posters and pictures everywhere. I am about to make posters of the People magazine article. I especially like Kelly. She lost 120 lbs. and is at 140 lbs. WOW! Good luck! Kep up the GREAT work! Norma
