What's the best mother's advice you've gotten about taking care of yourself?
Mine is from my own mom:
Annie
"We do not think ourselves into new ways of living. We live ourselves into new ways of thinking."
What I have learned from my mother was not by what she said but by what she did.
'You can have anything you want if you are willing to work for it'.
Not Everything, but anything.
My parents divorced when I was 11, and although my dad always met his obligations to us, both in time and money, there was definitely a big financial burden on my mother so that we could stay in our house and have a life similar to what we'd had before.
If there was something we needed, she would find some odd job she could do, and many times have us help her with it, to pay for it. My clothes for college were paid for with a typing job that took both of us all summer, but I had the money to buy what I wanted.
The greatest joy in my life is that in her 'golden years', my brother and I are able to make it so that she never has to worry about money - because she sacrificed so much to make sure we got our educations and understood the value of hard work.
Happy Mother's Day!
