Hi everyone!
I'm new here. I was in the Good Housekeeping Support Group but they closed that message board so I needed to find another board to come to. So far since January 16th, I have lost 42 pounds. I started at 220, and am now down to 178. My goal is to be somewhere around 140, so we're halfway there.
I have learned so much in these past couple months and am happy to share that with whomever needs motivation and support. I believe each of us can lose each and every pound we decide we are going to lose.
Good luck to all!
Kerlin

Hi Kerlin,
Welcome! I checked out the GH board a few times, and it seemed to have a plethora of information. Sorry to hear that it's closed... but I hope you'll enjoy the group here just as much.
Congratulations on the wonderful progress you've already made. What sort of plan have you been following? And what's your favorite "secret of success"? Enquiring minds want to know!
My plan has been a mixture of many different things. I kind of "invented" it on my own. First and foremost, I gave up soda and fast food. This was difficult for me, but now I cannot even stand the smell of fast food. I also gave up chocolate, which is my absolute favorite thing ever. I can't even tell you how much I love chocolate. I originally would not let myself have any...but now I give in every now and then, I just don't let myself have a lot.
My big exercise thing is I walk four miles a day. I love to walk because it helps me clear my mind, and boy has it worked. My legs are in such phenomenal shape now!
I guess my mental stubbornness is what keeps me going. I've had many people tell me I couldn't lose the weight. There are still people in my life telling me I can't do it. I like to prove them all wrong so I keep going. And everyone needs that one person who will tell you they love you regardless of how you look. That comes in the form of my godmother who is the greatest women I could ever ask to have in my life. I am twenty years old and in college two hours away from home, so I during the year I don't see my family that often. Two months after I started my diet, I was home and I went out to lunch with my former boss. I ran into my godmother in the restaurant, and she saw how much weight I lost and began to cry and tell me how beautiful I look. We all need someone who will do that for us.
Good luck to you, I know you can do it!
Congrats on you weight loss and welcome.
What have you been doing to lose the weight?

Welcome to this board Kerlin! We hope you find as much support here as on your other board. You've had tremendous success so far...keep up the fantastic work!
Aww, now I love your godmother, too!
With that kind of support and your "mental stubbornness" (AKA- the willpower so many of us keep searching for), I can see why you've been so successful. So nice to have you here!
