Body Image-Wierd Observation

I have been reading the 'Gym Rats' board lately -you all know I'm all about the gym although I feel like I really 'belong' here but I wanted to see what they might have to offer too.

In some ways, the women who post there are kind of our 'opposites'-they love to work out, don't have trouble making time for it, and happily eat what looks to me like very small amounts of food. But what I've noticed is that they seem to have just as many if not more 'body image' issues as we do.

It makes me wonder if there are any women in the world who actually are satisfied with their bodies. What kind of society do we live in if half the people in the world put so much time and energy into trying to be different than the way we are? Can we ever be satisfied with how we look? Maybe men have the same body image issues-I don't know and am not about to conduct a survey...

I'm not really sure what my point is, but maybe its that we have a lot more in common with the 'skinny' girls than we think. That board is worth a look if you are intreested in a different perspective (or the same perspective from a different angle)

Hope this makes sense...

my friend had gastric bypass awhile back ... she used to be like over 300 lb, she was a BBW lingerie model, very beautiful even as big ..... and even more beautiful now at 120ish or something like that....

i just found out she still sees herself as fat, has been diagnosed as anorexic and wants to get down to 108 lb .... so yeah i know what you mean, it bothers me that she can look in the mirror and see anything but a skinny girl in the mirror .....

it's sad, the world we live in these days ..... a little girl across the street from our house is like 5 years old, and she told me she doesn't eat very much because she wants to stay skinny .... it's enough to almost make you wanna cry to hear a child that young saying those things ....

i hope my 18 month old

I have something to say on this. When I was 17 in 1994 I lost 125 lbs and was 120lbs and still saw myself as fat but i did not get any lower and my teachers would imsist to my parents that i was anorexic even my uncle was playing and said i was anorexic i always saw myself as fat. well here it the 2000s and i have been over 300 lbs 6 years now.

That reminds me of my neice. She just turned 6 and several weeks ago I called her skinny. She looked up at me and said I'm not skinny, but I'm still little so it's okay. Kids aren't suppost to be skinny.

I thought that was rather funny, and I hope it means she won't grow up with issues about being skinny.
