Don't Want To Fail This Time!

Hello everyone! I am new here and am looking for a few friends to support me in my effort to lose weight. I am not 100 pounds overweight...but close enough. I need to lose 80 pounds. I am 6'1...very tall for a gal...and weigh 284. Growing up I was always on the heavy side. When I played basketball in high school I actually lost the weight and kept it off for many years, but since college I have ballooned. It's been a gradual weight gain, but now I want it off for good.
I recently got married in Vegas to a wonderful man who is also overweight and much older than me. I couldn't help but stare at all the beautiful women around me who were thin and healthy. Why can't I do that? When I was thin...people used to say I looked like Daisy Fuentes. Now they say I look like Wynonna Judd. Now people call me "healthy" instead of "beautiful".
So - I started the Atkins diet a couple of days ago and am doing well. I have walked 3 miles the first day and 2 miles the second day. I am watching what I eat very closely and am taking green tea for a little added metobolic boost.
I guess I am here to see if anyone out there is like me - tired of failing at diets - and need emotional support to succeed.
Any wishes of success would be most welcome as I am feeling 80 pounds to be quite a burden.
Thanks for listening world!

Welcome aboard Beckie!! And congratulations on your start with Atkins and on your first 2 days of exercise. We have a lot of people who are at different stages of weight loss. We're a pretty friendly group so feel free to post as much as you long about anything/everything LOL

My goal also was to lose 80lbs, and right now I lost a little over 40 lbs, so I'm more than half way there. You can do it.. just put your mind to it and never quit trying. Even if you fall off track (which we all do, we're only human), get back on that wagon as soon as you can and keep trying again. It all adds up in the end.

If you think 80lbs is overwhelming, try breaking it down to 10lbs goals. You can lose 10lbs 8 times, right?

Welcome aboard!!
