Oh, Annie, I'm so sorry you're having a down period. It sure sounds like you've come down with a classic case of diet fatigue!
When I went off the rails in the beginning of the year, that was EXACTLY my attitude. "Oh, okay, I've been eating a little poorly and not getting quite enough exercise, and I'm going to get back on track, but hey, what's another few days... weeks... months... when I'm going to be at this for such a long time anyway?" And then you start feeling worse physically as well as emotionally, and a little off-plan becomes a little more off-plan...
You (maybe better than anyone!) know all the usual prescriptions for this- change up your plan, re-dedicating yourself, just make yourself do it until you feel better about it, and so on. Do any of these strike your fancy? Anything a nudge-push-shove from this end can help with?
I went far enough off-track that many of the old aches and pains, or just plain not-being-able-to-do-the-things-I-wanted-to, came back as my real wake-up call. I'm sure you're not anywhere near such bad shape yet... but use my bad example as a warning if you like!
<> Think of your darling children! <>
Hope this passes for you soon. Any challenge that you think would help? I'm up for it... in solidarity. You've been such a help to so many on this board, I hope there's something we can do in return.
Annie, I'm sorry you are in a funk...I have two points of view to share with you.
1. Maybe you need to look back at how far you have come on this journey. Yes, you've been at this for a year. If you look at not just the weight you've lost, but the weight you didn't gain in that year, how are you doing? I know you are planning a pretty active vacation. A year ago, would you have felt like you could tackle that at the level of fitness you were at then? If you look back at the last year, how many events were ruined for you because you didn't feel like you could eat whatever you wanted? Can you make a list of all of the days you went to bed hungry? Or worked out so hard that you couldn't get out of bed the next day? Are there clothes that are too big now that you are really sad you can't wear them?
2. I know that becoming a mother wasn't an easy feat for you - it wasn't like 'wham/bam/baby'. Yet you kept on trying different things until you found the way to your children...but the work of being a Mom had just started. Do you regret the work you did to get to be a mother? Or the work you have ahead of you (forever if you believe my mother-whose motto is 'they don't get better, they just get bigger')? I know the answer to these questions.Isn't some of the stick-to-it-ness that you need now the same thing that carried you through that long hard journey? Isn't is just as important that your children have a healthy, fit Mom as that you have them to love? Isn't that worth the effort?
You want this, you deserve this, and you can make this happen foryourself!
we all have the ups and downs. how about getting out for a nice walk - then go out and treat yourself to a special lunch - if you can't go out get to the supermarket and pick up something special - maybe get a babysitter even for an hour and do something you enjoy.
I sympathize, where mine may not be diet fatigue, I am getting very close to life fatigue so to speak. Things just don't seem to want to go right down here in the south..I have beeen so stressed it is no wonder I have done gone and made myself sick as a dog, but here I am off to a miserable excuse for a job wondering WHY, why even get out of bed & then I realize I have to for my family but right now it is taking all my efforts so I completely understand the tired fed up feelings and I hope we both get passed it really soon!!!!
I can't tell you how much I identify with what you wrote. Part of the reason for my life change (diet) is to combat my own unhappiness with life. I want to feel better so I'm trying to do something positive for myself. And I know that's why you're doing what you're doing as well. Every day you make this a better place for us all.
All I can say is one of my main mantras: this, too, shall pass. I say it every time I feel down--so, I say it often. Remember, you have lots of reasons to be joyful as well as pensive. :-) So hang in there, keep smiling, and remember: life is filled with potential, but only you know what your dreams are, so you must ask for them to come true! :-)

Annie,
Know that you're not alone in how you're feeling...we all go through the same fatigue several times...sometimes several times in a single day!

"We do not think ourselves into new ways of living. We live ourselves into new ways of thinking."
I'm glad your feeling better!
Are your kids getting excited about your trip next month yet?
